The way our new recruiting team basically gave away Scrimshaw and Lyons last year, I get the feeling we are more than willing to accept apparent unders or pay what seems to be overs to get the right players into the club. I think we’d accept a pick in the late teens for Martin if it suited our purpose.

That is piss weak, not even started trade week you raise the white flag. Both Lyons and Scrimshaw hardly play AFL compare to Martin.

I do get the impression we would be interested in Connor Blakely. I remember an article about Lachie Weller when he requested a trade where he said a few of his teammates were pretty interested in the move but he didn't want to name names.

Out of contract at the end of this year, good mates with Weller, keen surfer, would fit in well with the group we have. Could see us making a play.

Also fits into the category of running defender with midfield capabilities that we have spoken about looking for.

If you don't offer, you don't have any chances , just like St kilda and Port fan want to offer peanut for Martin at least they still offer some lousy pick . Players Go with the best deal nowadays.

Need to be patient and not overrated GC Sun academy players. ACE, Toby Greene clone academy players you mention are the type you want in Cat B rookie, they are not ready for AFL but good enough for NEAFL to develop their game for two to three years before upgraded them to rookie A or main list , Dawson and Heron should go to state league and further develop their game. Sam fletcher and Riordan could be B grade.

My potential A list players : Bowes, Ainsworth, rankine, lukosius, King
A- Weller
B: Ballard, crossley, Ah chee.

Leaders : swallow, witts, Collins.

List/draft overview for 2019 after the initial start to season.

King looks likely, Lukosius looks better and better, Corbett’s a gem, Wright works his bum off, Sexton is dangerous, Ainsworth is class, AND we still have Rankine to come back, and may be the best of all of them. Quality forward line locked in.

Collins, Hombsch, Ballard, Hanley, Weller, Harbrow - locked in. Thompson to come back. A few fringe players like Murdoch. Do we need a gun CHB?

In the Mids - Witts, Swallow are locks, and probably Fiorini as well. Bowes and Macpherson are progressing nicely, Miller a bit less so. Miles is very admirable and has been terrific. So do we need a gun mid eg. Cunnington?

Wingers, Powell is an absolute yes for me. Love him. Need some more speed, maybe Weller to the wing and/or draft in someone like a Langdon (Freo).

I think we have 2 x first rounders in this years draft, we should draft in top quality talent rather than kids. A strategy could be:

Trade out J Martin for 1 x first rounder, so we then have 3. Then we get;
1. Cunnington/Higgins/ Parker
2. Langdon
3a. CHB - Finlayson? Moore? Harris Andrews? OR if we don’t need CHB
3b. Best draftee available at our pick
The draftees onwards
4. Roughead/Shoenmakers

Seriously if you got nothing good to said at least don't lower down his price, May and Kk is not worth pick 6, yet GC get pick 6, that is my observation too. Some of you called yoursrlf fan but just want to complain, sell cheap complain, players want to go home because they ate not happy also complain.

Wtf - you’ve got some serious reading comprehension difficulties if you interpreted my post like that. If anything, I was complimenting our recruiting team on doing what it takes to build the list they want. Get a life man.

At the time May for pick 6 was pretty much spot on, and still might be. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

In my opinion nothing worse than lower your own players value who play regular AFL and not NEAFL, Martin is worth more than Liam stocker, Zac butters.May played AFL last year and not a single NEAFL game. A utility like Martin worth more and not less to GCS and other teams.
