Youre all class Bods! That comment again says more about you than anyone else.

Thanks. I could have gone much harder and gone over the old history again but I decided to be reserved and talk about what Ive seen of him the odd time I’ve watched getting all “surreal” in the Hawks colours.
So yeah-you’re welcome.

As I said you could mention most of our list. E.g. Ainsworth, Bowes, Fiorini, Macpherson - all mist half of the games so far in their careers. Then you got young Powell, Ballard who go well this year. We got new performance, physio teams so I give them some time to assess. I think each player has to be looked at individually. If you look at Ellis you mentioned. He came with groin issue already. They decided to operate on it after it did not settle down which sounds like a good decision. Then he did ankle in his first game back when he was tackled, similar to Lemmens. I don't think it is preventable. Personally, my only concern is Rankine and Bowes this year. The rest as much as I am frustrated seems just bad luck.
GCS are fast running out of bad luck excuses already, everytime problem pop up the excuses is new coach, new players and new program, or bad luck, new rebuild.

My excuse is VFL Umpires when all else fails

BUT
I think it’s all in the head
They need to be ruthless
Aim to destroy
Don’t be happy with competitive
When you have a sniff which we had today then go and kill the bastards

Yes, for a lot of people. For me first 6 or whatever number of years until Evan came are write off mainly how AFL set up Suns. After 10 years a lot of people lost patience understandably. Even if things go now in right direction there are plenty of risks that it still can go downhill.

Your last sentence unintentionally gave another excuses, even if thing go right, why Not just get it right by starting with Neafl team playing/making into more final series. ROTATING young talent instead of trading second Rd and third Rd draft pick away.

As weird as it sounds I didn’t mind us losing today. Probably ensures we get pick one or two. All the kids played well and just ran out of legs. Another Alex Rigby pre season and a lot of the issues of not playing four quarters of footy are solved.

The problem for the suns is that the more the losses the more damage it’s ok for people like jiri who see the positives in everything and are rostered on fans who are interested win loss or draw and find positives but every loss is more damage.. casual fans are dropping away losing interest kids are losing interest and being bullied by other kids for following a team that just loses all the time.. what about the players surely losing all the time and copping it from their mates about it mustn’t be great..

I’m a rusted on fan with 3 memberships I’d penciled in two Metricon games at the back end of the season but I won’t be traveling away to another game this season..

for every new fan/member there’s one or two dropping away!
You can only sell hope for so long until theres no hope left..

imo the only people who have accepted the challenge is the fans who show up every week

No need to name me :) FWIW, I don't see positives in everything. If we don't don't get more wins this year I see the negative impact on young players, we may lose more players, we will not be able to attract quality players this off season etc. Yes, NEAFL is shambles, Suns traded some players cheaply to my liking. If fans are fed up and drop away that's their choice, life goes on. Personally, I try to be realistic considering the list. I guess my threshold of being fed up is different. In the end it's just footy we have a bit chat about. I also think that Suns will be always underdogs the way the AFL is run.

Whilst the results aren’t ideal participation in AFL QLD is at an all time high. The growth in members will come with the young kids and if we are successful in the next 3 years I’m confident that members numbers could crack 15k

That’s what all the privileged school Tie inbreds at VFL House need to seriously think about.

That’s why I argue for GWS “parity” picks to be given to us.

Where are the extra ten first round picks that they gave GWS??? Fix it Gil.

Quasi Celebrity CEO with no gonads.

The Suns recruitment has actually been superb:
- pre-selecting Collins, Burgess and Corbett
- letting Lynch walk and getting Rankine as compensation
- trading 3rds with Richmond to get Ellis and Miles
- letting Lyons walk and signing Murdoch
- trading Hall and getting a late pick in 2019 (for an Academy pick)
- GHS for peanuts
- pick swaps with the Lions
- offloading Scrimshaw on his inflated contract
- trading May and KK for Ben King
- getting Hombsch for a snag
- moving up for McLennan
- re-rookied players for depth
- Fletcher and Riordan bargains

The list is young, with 14 players unavailable this week. The NEAFL side has played 54 different players in 10 games, but when Malceski had 23 Suns (11 senior + 12 Academy) he was able to execute the game plan and knock off a side that has seen off the best in the Comp with teenagers led by Rischa, Nicholls, Leslie, Burgess and Scheer plus 18 kids who played lights out footy that I preferred to watch at times rather than the AFL game because of the talent this young side has in abundance.

- Connor Budarick is rated #11 in Chris Doerre's Power Rankings
- Josh Gore hit 4 goals and should get an Allies jersey for it
- Ashton Crossley lit up the NAB League and is continuing strong form in the NEAFL
- Hewago "Ace" Paul Oea will be a Category B Rookie
- Matt Conroy is playing 2nd ruck for Allies and is the answer to our ruck shortage
- Dirk Koenen had 19 touches as a roaming key position player
- Corey Joyce had 19 touches out of defence
- Riley Buckland has been playing fantastic footy and set up the winning goal for Goober
- Mitch Riordan had 16 touches and 11 tackles on debut
- Cooper Portelli had 21 disposals and a goal
- Fitzroy Greenwool was electric as ever

The kids are gonna be all right.

I agree with you. We have done quite well with respect to drafting and trading. As a club probably our strongest performed area over the last few years.
Doesn't make Anthony Miles a better player than David Zaharakis.

Not sure I'd go as far to say Matt Conroy who is playing 2nd ruck in an u18 team that got beaten by 100 points as 'our answer to our ruck shortage'. Have seen he's kicked a few goals though.

Budarick will get his chance in the AFL but clearly has talent. If Gore was another 5-10cm taller i'd be more sure about him. Definitely up for giving Ace a rookie spot. The chances of the other academy kids making an AFL career is low IMO.

Buckland really surprised me. I noticed him in several games. He has a great speed, takes game on, breaks lines. Do you know how old is he?

Greenwool is a bullet.

The yesterday NEAFL game that was like watching a different team. The pressure, tackling for the whole game was outstanding.

If the recruiting team done well why not use it to pick More Ballard talent in the second and third round instead of giving retirement funded to Murdoch and GHS, both I suspected signed three years deal. Relegated Brad sheer who is under contract to rookie list is an insult to him.

* every peanut deal =three years contract and on senior list and more money than Ballard, Powell first two years and draftee from second and third Rd pick last year, this year and 2020 draftees.

I think the recruiters are going to let Academy guys go through to their top-age year unless a rival club puts a bid on them.

Budarick will get bid on because all clubs want a feisty little bugger with speed, good ball use and willingness to go hard no matter the opponent.

Ace is different because he's not Australian, so he probably doesn't need to go through the Draft, but everything is up in the air because the AFL has been making rules on the run this year so I'm just hoping he can be stashed as cat B without even going in the draft.

I think everybody is under rating Ashton Crossley because he has come up huge in NAB League and NEAFL games this year. He lost his spot to Alex Davies in the NEAFL last week and I'd go as far as to say that it was the difference between losing by 5 goals and having a chance at winning the game (the umpires would still have been atrocious, but Davies was a passenger when the midfield needed a bull). However, if he slides through the Draft like Koenen did then another year playing Academy and NEAFL footy will be less expensive and free up a spot on our list.

Matt Conroy is worth Rookie Listing because he's a decent developing ruckman who can play ruck/forward.

Yes, Buckland is going really well. Could maybe use another year to really develop and be a 19 yo recruit. The risk of allowing any player another year in the Academy is worth taking a hit at the Draft because 18 yo kids can be a lottery whereas 19 yo kids tend to show their class in adversity.

Contracts don't mean anything if you re-rookie the player. Pay goes down accordingly and the player still gets certain guarantees.

Ballard is an interesting case because he was a 5 foot 11 midfielder with all the skills and was considered a 1st round prospect in his draft year, but he suddenly grew 6 inches taller and got super gawky when AFL scouts were paying most attention. You won't find many like him in the 2nd round and that's because the Draft is actually pretty predictable. The first 8 picks last year went in the order everybody expected. Even Adelaide's bid for Thomas at 8 was predictable because they always bid on tied players. 8 players in the first 2 rounds were tied in some way, Academy or Father-Son, so it isn't until you get to the 3rd round that you get some rough diamonds and then in the 5th it is mostly the last of the tied players anyway. 14 out of 78 Draft picks were tied players.

Draft crap shoot Vs increasing the odds by selecting top level players and Academy players.

What happen to Marty Hore, Callum Wilkie, Willie rioli, worpel, constable the list go on that are even better than Ballard. Seriously I don't blame picking wrong player at third Rd.

All different cases, as you well know.

Far more relevant to consider McLennan, Fletcher and Riordan in a year.

You are seriously underrating Charlie Ballard.
What he is doing in defence this year as a 19yo is quite extraordinary IMO
I would take him ten times over before Willie Rioli and Callum Wilkie

I understand young kids don’t want to be fans of a losing team, but watch them all jump back on board when we’re up the top of the ladder. Every club has rusted on and blow in fans.

If wins means fans Carlton would be down to membership base of 12 by now, or GWS would be packing the house out.

It’s a rebuild, just like every team has to do, and while the last one didn’t work, there’s a lot to believe we’ve got the plan right this time.

As frustrated as we’ve been since this club started, we can’t expect decades of experience to show up in the first 13 rounds of 2019.

No doubt people will jump on bandwagon when Suns starts winning. Just look at Broncos with crowds dropping significantly recently. It's a QLD thing - most people will support only winning teams. Lions now get 25K crowds or even sell out against Collingwood.

I definitely understand why some people are fed up or give up on Suns. 8 years is a long time, especially considering that first 6 years was a disaster.
But it does not take a lot of effort to see changes happening in the last 2 years except wins.

To my surprise even the Melbourne media despite 9 losses in a row can see the positives. The only thing which annoys me when media talk about how decimated Tigers are, how their young team logically faded in the last quarter against Crows and when they talk about Suns nobody mentions our injuries and that Suns field the youngest team by a large margin. 8-10 missing from best 22, including 2 best defenders. They should be asking why again we have so many injuries.

Richmond still top at VFL level, Melbourne last year make it to final in AFL, people will talk about GCS when development team win a NEAFL grand final. Richmond kids like Bolton get 38 touches and won games at VFL level and Brodie get 30+ touches but loss majority of games in Neafl level. Winning cultures is very important for teams. Sam Collins played VFL GF with box Hill , won two flag with peel thunder in WAFL, the most intercepted mark in VFL with Werribee and in VFL team of the year. As good as Ballard, Florini, Powellv,, Ainsworth, Bowes are as individual , they had not won many games in AFL and NEAFL level playing as a team.

Not sure how your reply relates to my post. I am talking about how Hardwick and media whine about Richmond injury list and how young they are. On your favourite topic, NEAFL, FWIW, it appears like the national reserve competition is coming in 2021.

Why you keep talking about media, winning games will shut them off, no matter how many competition you add in, you need to win games. Talking about other team injuries don't really help you win games, talking about a premiership winning coach whidging about their team injuries don't help GCS win Games. It does make you feel better temporary, but you still don't win games. Win win win, win , it really need to drill into your brain, instead of injuries excuses, what media and other team coach said.

I believe I can post whatever observations I make. Yes, you can also post whatever unrelated, fishing stuff you want. Ignore, scroll down. I do.
