No need for that last sentence. Good grief.
Has he been linked at all to us? Or is it just dreaming.
Pretty sure he was discussed on one of Twomey's podcasts yesterday, where Twomey mentioned that he was linked to Brisbane a couple of years ago, but know Gold Coast "may" be looking at him.

Yeah i posted it as i heard it on AFL exchange they mentioned the Lions but said he isn't really needed now so it was implied the Suns could fit. Regarding Ellis i believed we did go after him as well as Townsend but they didn't want to leave. Only Corey Ellis and Miles.

Yes, but not what the cap will be in 2023, which where the gamble lies. It looks like Coniglio will demand well over a million a year and he'd be getting frontloaded on a long deal. If there's a massive financial crisis, the cap won't go up by enough for the Suns to be able to sign Rankine, King and Lukosius to their next deals, rendering the entire thing pointless.
I haven't followed the Coniglio discussion, but that seems somewhat unrealistic if he's asking for a $1mil plus. Though I can see some of the desperate Vic teams offering that.

Regardless, and I've said this repeatedly on the Lions board, Coniglio is not moving North for any amount of money. Why leave a GWS team that is closer to a flag than either QLD team. He either heads to Vic or home to WA.

Dead heat between retention and development, half head to drafting, daylight everything else.

Suspect it used to be drafting, daylight, daylight again, overpay to retain, daylight, retention.

I haven't done any fact checking, but I'm very confident that Brandon Ellis has more Brownlow votes than any 2 players on our list combined. If a player like that is not going to improve the list I don't know what will.
Sure, He's not Fyfe/Dusty/Danger, but he's definitely better than a good chunk of our best 22.

Swallow has 11 Brownlow votes
Hanley has 29
Harbrow has 21

Also, Aaron Hall had 27 in the same duration as Brandon Ellis.

It is both a good estimation of a player's career and can be too subjective.

The challenge for this board is to arrive at an objective summary of his career because the rubbish posted about him doesn't arrive at anywhere near his strengths and weaknesses, no matter how popular it might seem to stack on about how terrible people claim he is.

I put up the case for Alex Sexton to become a primary contributor to this side and was shouted down from pillar to post. Those naysayers have gone super quiet, but they'll pile in with negativity whenever a likely victim looms.

How many are willing to admit how wrong they were about Sexton?

I think you're fighting the wrong argument when there is a handful of posters that want him dropped back to NEAFL at the moment.

Just be careful with the posting mate. You're already turning it into a dick measuring contest.

When it comes to mature players we are bringing in, atm the on field production is down the list.

We have a very fragile rejuvenation going on. Bring in the wrong people and not sure we have a strong enough foundation yet to hold it all together.

The mature guys they did bring in last off-season all seem to have fitted in and also added a lot of value off-field. Works for me.
In a couple of years then hopefully can re-assess strategy with a foundation and culture in place.

Sexton has kicked 50 goals since then, but if it means Connor Nutting gets a shot at AFL and retaining his list spot, Secco can go to the twos for a spell. 9 wins and a healthy chunk of percentage separate the Suns from a possible finals spot, so now the selection policy goes in an experimental direction.
Agree, it's time to find out if some players make it or not, Nutting, Dawson, Scheer, Heron. At the same time we need desperately a couple of wins to boost spirit, attract players. It will be interesting to see how big players turnover will be this off season. What is your prediction? And who will be let go.

Where has Nutting been playing in NEAFL? I remember watching him as a top up ages before he was drafted and he was absolutely killing it on a HB flank. His kicking and decision making was a cut above

Just got confirmation on a theory I've had for a while, though it may be common knowledge to some. Hewago "Ace" Paul Oea will not have to go through the Draft, so he can be pencilled in as the first recruit of the Suns in 2019 offseason. Watching today's Allies game, Dirk Koenen playing a leading role in defence as an interceptor and key position player, Connor Budarick dominating in the middle, Josh Gore with a few shots on goal, Ashton Crossley in the guts with the hard ball gets and Ace is everywhere. I'd recruit them all, but perhaps Gore and Crossley will be made to go around again in U19s.

I did not watch 3rd qtr. I like your excitement about them but I think you overvalue them a bit. You will have to let go some players on current list to bring them in. For me at the moment only Budarick looks potentially AFL quality. Yes, listening to Sheehan Ace will be a free shot but beside speed not much to show today. The same for the rest. I would probably keep Heron, Scheer, Fletcher, Riordan over all of them even possibly Nutting and Dawson.

All of those players you mentioned will be kept. The attrition will come from players who can't add anything in future.
How many players Suns will turnover this year? Which players will go in your opinion? We probably need 4-5 spots on a senior list for draftees and possible trades. Holman deserves to be on the senior list. Leslie looks obvious choice. Wigg gone or does he get another year to prove himself? Nicholls actually plays well now in NEAFL, I would keep him as a backup but I guess he will be gone. Rischitelli gone. A lot depends on Martin, Brodie, Ah Chee situation. Besides Budarick, Ace, possibly only 1 more academy player for me.

I'd have Gore over Nutting on our list.

Glad a player of 9 years on the list has developed into good NEAFL ruck - we should be so proud

Who talks about being proud? We talk about who will ruck if Witts goes down. Is Crossley a ready back up? Definitely not. Can Day ruck all day if Witts go down? I don't think so. Play Wright in the ruck is also no from me. So personally I believe Suns need another back up ruckman if we replace Nicholls. Early in NEAFL season I would say get rid of him but he improved significantly as season progressed and he did actually well against all AFL back up ruckmen (GWS, Lions, Swans). 1-2 more years on a rookie list for cheap is not a bad option until Crossley builds up his body, tank.

I can't see any good ruckmen lining up for a back up job behind workhorse Witts.

Stephen did hamstring. Suns stay away from him, please.

How was Blakely?

didn't do much in the ~half game I saw.
Ended up with 5 kicks, 13 handpasses, 5 tackles
only 3 contested possessions
pretty mediocre game statistically.

I thought he used the ball well and was influential from what I saw.

Witts looks like he's struggling as of late not in form but just the workload. I hope he never misses a game but if he does it would be good to see one last time what we can get out of Nicholls.

Will just confirm that the club is making the right decision when they let him go
