So you would consider the top 10 significantly better than the players that we could get at 15?

Would you say that Deven Robertson or Sam Flanders are significantly more valuable than Harry Shoenborg or Dylan Stephens?

Because if not - you're basically giving up Jack Martin for pick 40.
I’d put a premium on Dylan Stephens in this draft.

He’s really the only genuine outside mid in the top half of the draft.

He’s also a Vic Country kid who went to Boarding school on a scholarship in Adelaide. Finished school last year, and is at Uni this year, still living away from home.

Schoenberg and Robertson are over rated in this draft because of its shallowness. Not sure either are much better than Luke Valente from last years draft.

And Sam Flanders looks like a boom or bust type of prospect.

That said, I’d still want something better than pick 40 as the steak knives.

Gould is what we need exactly, big strong powerful defender with great skills.

A bit of mongrel in him which doesn't hurt, even if he is a man-child.

Although has a different body shape could become as effective as Tom Stewart quite quickly

With Jack Martin's inflated salary off the books, I'd be throwing 4 year deals at both Keath and Greenwood. Supposedly they want long term security but Adelaide won't offer them more than two years each. No guarantee they'd be willing to come, but the Suns are clearly missing talented veterans, and these two are not decrepit like Betts.

Apparently they are great mates and live together

Sorry all, I don’t want to insult anyone, but I think about your club a lot.

I feel the only way the Suns will attract & keep talent, particularly young is with a coach players want to play under & stay with. It has to be the best coach in the land.

Discussions must be had with Clarkson to get him up there ASAP as head coach to set the standards & agenda for the future of the club. Pay him whatever he needs & the Afl need to subsidise it.

This has to be a collaborative mission between The Suns & the Afl.

Constantly trying to attract players to finish their careers with a longer contract is not going breed success, but only attract players who want security. The club will be forever chasing its tail as the younger players put in a few years then leave for an opportunity at success, bigger crowds & to play at home.

For all of Ross Lyons faults, he made Freo relevant in the competition which hopefully they can continue. At that time he was the best coach available, so it was a good move by the club.

I don’t want Gold Coast to become a development club for other Eastern States teams as that helps no one & offers your club no chance at success. Good luck to the Suns for the future, I genuinely hope you get the respect you deserve.

Don’t know if you’ve noticed but we’ve had no less than 14 players sign extensions this year, including players the media had suggested was gone. Yes we are likely to lose Martin and Ahchee this year. But in general the retention issue is beginning to fix itself. Sure attracting free agents isn’t happening but most of us feel off field we finally have the right people in the right places. We’re just coming from a place so far behind thanks in part to the former regime and the afl themselves.

Appreciate the feedback but as mentioned 15 players have re-signed in the last year, so I don’t think buy-in is an issue with dew

Looks like we’ll lose Martin and Ah-Chee this year but players move around - much like Neale and Weller leaving under Ross Lyon

Couldn’t see Clarkson wanting to come here in a million years no matter how much money we offered him anyway. He loves the Hawks too much and I don’t think his ego would allow him to come here and risk the legacy he has built there. Hawks would have to sack him before he’d even contemplate moving up to us.

Not into keath purely Collins, Hombsch, Ballard and even Burgess played the third men defence well. No point having a player in and take away other player opportunities to growth and then complain eastern state get them cheap through trade because they don't want to play NEAFL when keath hit 30. GCS should be lucky will brodie signed an extension and not give him away for third round pick. All in their first year with GCS except Ballard, you need to build chemistry.

In the reserves last year Ballard was very good as a tall wingman. Really provided strong marking link up from defence to attack. Once his tank builds, I think this could be a good option for him in the seniors.

A few reports this morning about Burgoyne to the suns on a 3 yr playing and coaching setup is guaranteed and already agreed to by all parties. I think this will be the first piece of the puzzle of the hawthorn injection to the suns this off season.

Hombsch battled manfully but he is classic depth player.
