Hombsch battled manfully but he is classic depth player.

He is a great 2nd defender but he copped the best forward each week due to injuries. If Rory was back there he would look great as he reads the ball well and can intercept. Same with Collins.

A few reports this morning about Burgoyne to the suns on a 3 yr playing and coaching setup is guaranteed and already agreed to by all parties. I think this will be the first piece of the puzzle of the hawthorn injection to the suns this off season.

Let's hope so!

Couldn’t see Clarkson wanting to come here in a million years no matter how much money we offered him anyway. He loves the Hawks too much and I don’t think his ego would allow him to come here and risk the legacy he has built there. Hawks would have to sack him before he’d even contemplate moving up to us.
funny you say that, we nearly landed him before Dew. He was coming but his wife didn’t want to move to the Goldy.
Loved Melbourne too much..

In the reserves last year Ballard was very good as a tall wingman. Really provided strong marking link up from defence to attack. Once his tank builds, I think this could be a good option for him in the seniors.
Are you stealing my patter?
I reckon Charlie should be Fyfing for us

Mystery still surrounds out-of-contract 21-year-old utility Callum Ah Chee who played just one AFL game this year between dealing with personal issues and injury.

Dew said no matter what Ah Chee decided, he remained confident the Suns put enough support mechanisms in place for him.

“He has had a tough year and we have really supported Cal and surrounded him with the people he needed,” Dew said.

“We are really confident we did everything we can in that sense

Jack Martin news isn't surprising. Has to be said though I feel a lot worse about losing the player he could be than the player he is/was.

Hopefully we are able to put his contract $ to good use.

Clearly hasn't had his heart in if for 2 years so probably best if he goes and I suspect will be re-energised and play the way we wanted him to BUT with a different club. I'd so a straight swap for Carlisle (STK) assuming Burgoyne comes and we have a much more experienced back-line immediately. Thompson, Collins, Hombsch, Harbrow, Hanley. Carlisle and Burgoyne looks good on paper and might even allow Ballard to move to the wing where I'm sure he'd be happier and able to influence the game better than Jack has done in recent years.
