If good players are available and willing to come I don’t think we can turn them down just because we have c graders that did an ok job this year in a similar position,
I’d take keath in this circumstance, he’d be best 22 clearly.

If we could get a good midfielder instead with the same asset of course I would do that in preference.

Thompson is b grade but always injured
Collins had a good start to the season but injured
Hombsch is c grade and for me is depth
Burgess showed some good signs at back end of the season but definitely depth
Ballard is versatile and could be played elsewhere
Luko could play further up ground.
Graham is not ready for AFL but got gifted games because of injury.

Totally agree - everyone is focused on the mid deficiency but we also have a poor defence. I'd like to see us go after Carlisle (STK) and add some body and experience down back. Ballard and Luko should ultimately move forward so definitely need at least one more big defender. I'd see Harbrow and Hanley holding spots, making a much better back line.

There is a bit difference between players want to come and GCS paying over so they come. I think North and other club would ask for Keath too. Why spend time F*** around with little to no chance he is coming. Keath is in a situation that want success and money not rebuilding club.
At 22-24 keath is a c grade too.

Would be a great get for us! Has fantastic leadership and is a cult figure at hawthorn all the boys love him which speaks volume about his character. If SUNS cheeky chat with him from round 22 at Marvel Stadium comes off it’ll be one for the ages.

Thats how you know what he's after I assume.

He is a mature body who was being talked about as AA potentially part way through the year.
Obviously I am not suggesting we throw ridiculous money to get him up here, but if he is available and willing to come, we should definitely consider it.

I am saying as a general statement - I wouldn't be turning away good players - just because we have average players in their position.
The other clubs don't just recruit purely to their needs - they also stockpile talent.


Hawks bought in Wingard and Scully and subsequently players like Harry Morrison - who had played 21 games the year before had to bide time in the VFL.

Essendon bought in Shiel and Smith over the past 2 years - Langford had to play reserves a bit, Dylan Clarke had to bide his time, Kobe Mutch got a few games last year but reserves this year.

Fremantle picked up Matera and have been playing him over Ballatnye whilst also having Walters (who moved into midfield), Switkowski, Shulz in same position.

Brandon Matera played pretty well for Freo this year - wouldn't say it was better than his best years with us though

Wouldn't say he was a exactly a huge loss but Tom Hickey has played 31 games in a top 4 team the last 2 years.

I think there is no chance we get Jack as a straight swap for pick 8.
And honestly his performances haven't been anywhere near worth that.

Potential has to come into it somewhere - but its hard to make that a large part of the equation when he is now 24 years old..

If we are to get pick 8 I would suggest we would have to give up the Lions pick in some form of package.

We will be lucky to get a first on its own for Martin. His form this year was abysmal. He is at the age where potential is no longer a selling point. You are paying for the player and his stretch between best and worst is atrocious

Tippa basically hasn't missed a game and kick 90 goals and almost 50 goal assists in the past 3 years
Exciting player that gets the crowd involved.

Values Martin at around 15-20, but we gain access to another top 10 kid in this years draft, hopefully adding to picks 1 & 2?
