That's really positive news. I heard Mitch Cleary reporting he was on the Gold Coast this week looking at schools for his children to attend. Given our history of sending academy kids to All Saints Anglican School, I figure his children will probably end up there. I can only assume Silk wants his children to attend an elitist private school and we have a good relationship with All Saints. I'm sure a nice deal can be struck there with the school and it would mostly likely mean Burgoyne will stay multiple years with us as a coach because he won't want to pull his oldest child out of school once he's started year 10/11.

It also looks like we're almost certain to land Brandon Ellis. Both he and Burgoyne are free agents and won't cost us a thing so that's a pretty big win for us. Beyond that, we need to figure out if it's worth engaging in a trade with the Crows to land Betts and/or Greenwood.

The issue with drafting a young ruck early is that it usually won't pay early dividends compared to a midfielder.

If we end up with the 2 kids at the start of the draft and given our timeframe for success it could be worth the investment of draft capital.

I can genuinely see Jackson going from pick 12 onwards.

This draft doesn’t have the same quality of mids as the latter half of last years first round.

Any of the kids picked from 12 onwards might be viewed as a longer term prospect.

Mate, I know you're staunchly in favour of the public system over the private system but the reality of the situation is a wealthy footballer like Shaun Burgoyne is going to send his kids to a private school like All Saints. Like it or not.

Ellis is just an average footballer, that’s all. But given the limited amount of quality available in this trade period (to date), he can command a healthy salary.
I won’t be unhappy if we get him or we don’t.

Spot on. Averaged 25 disposals during home & away games in 2017. Then only 11 in 3 finals. Don’t think he’s got much to worry about if he comes to us.

Agree, he did not look great. Not in our best 22 with a healthy list.

I must have been very close to you l was in Section 24 and totally agree was very unimpressed.

Whispers about Tex being sick of Adelaide and its media circus. Stepping down as captain may mean something, or it may not. If he does leave, I'd like him at the Lions, but he'd be much more valuable to the Suns. A proper leader who can mentor King and Lukosius. Should be a big improvement on Peter Wright considering his form this year.

Agree Tex is a very poor leader.

Burgoyne will be a huge get for us.
I don’t care about his age.
Just having someone like him at our club around our players will be amazing.

I really, really think Ellis will end up being an Albatross around our neck....yes he has played some decent footy inside the Richmond machine but his worst is dreadful and he will be massively exposed with us being under pressure constantly and have no time to make decisions with ball in hand. We will end up paying overs on a long contract and have a spud to show for it I reckon

Be interested to see what other Hawks maybe on our radar, I would pay overs for Isaac Smith

God I hope Greenwoods missus loves surfing more than he loves the idea of playing for Hawthorn

Completely agree, Mr Bods has our clubs best interests at heart and is a passionate SUNS man through and through, very disappointing to see the way he is treated. Especially when there is a Richmond man baiting us all and getting away with it.

Ellis is a proven downer during finals. His stats compared to H&A to finals are like chalk and cheese. We'd have to actually GET to finals first to see that.

On that, he was quite bad yesterday. Outbodied by second and third year players on the wing. I think he might add something, but not a lot. I grimace at the idea of paying him a lot.
