The AFL needs to solve this problem in some sort of fashion that works for all the Northern clubs. We're stuck in the middle of it right now, Brisbane have been there and likely will again if their form dips, GWS leak players and will feel the pinch eventually, and maybe even Sydney too soon.

Victorians don't seem to care, they'd probably not even mind if the whole comp reverted back to the VFL to be honest.

But when TV rights are dependent on a National Competition they should understand better
AFL is an odd hybrid game that has managed to survive off the back of it's expansion
In the 1980's the competition had stagnated before WCE and Sydney
The problem for us is that the VFL has proved itself parasitic rather than symbiotic when it comes to the Northern Clubs

Rowell with good hands in tight, excellent tackling.
Hardly seen or heard them mention Anderson
Bianco been in the play a bit
Ugle-Hayden - bulldogs player for next years draft will be a star. Looks like a Buddy / Hipwood combination.

The answer I think is to decentralise, if more decision makers were based outside of Victoria the The AFL would have a chance of actually being National

So annoying that we are struggling to attract and overpay bog standard players while our best get poached away for nothing or draft picks that if we get right repeat the cycle or get wrong and are moved on for 4th rounders

Part of me thinks they should fold us so I can stop watching the VFL altogether

When we start winning games the tide will turn . Also when some of our academy players turn into stats and there are two good ones this year and two next year watch the whining that we have an unfair advantage

Rowell is easily the number 1 pick for us, he is a safe of a bet as Walsh, just does everything right. Carrying Oakleighs midfield so far, does all the hard work for the outside mids

yeah he was getting quite agitated on the bench as he wanted to get back out

usually safe, he isn't going to break a game open with his kicking but he is usually good, has made the wrong decision a couple of times today but his teammates aren't helping him much. His hands in close are absolutely elite

totally agree and doesn't he cover some ground as well. Been impressed with Bianco too.

Yep he works hard both ways, nice explosion of pace over the first 3-5 steps, something we sorely lack.
Bianco looks good today, but im still not sold, reminds me of billy hartung

As my wife put it last night.
Victorians resent the fact we take their players from the draft. Not to mention the fact, they still believe, in an underlying manner that it’s their game.
They have no interest in growing the sport and until our state wide under 10’s reach 16-18yrs of age and we can select our own players, we are going to be presented with an uphill battle.
We MUST understand this and approach it together as a given, not as an equal playing field out there. It’s stronger for the mind in the long run.

Ps. Greenwood’s uncle stated, he’s packing his bags for Hawthorne.

I think Bianco at his best will be a poor mans Tom Scully, just doesnt win his own ball and is to small
