If the suns draft Rowell and Anderson then pick up another first rounder we have started to develop a bit of depth if King and Lukosious resign

Rowell will, Anderson will play mainly HF i would think

Rowell 100% will - he is a solid unit.

Only reason he won't is he is going into contests like a mad man and ends up with more bandages than Selwood.

Him and Swallow will set the tone around the ball.

Would people do Ah Chee and pick 15 (Lions pick) for 17 and 19?
in principle yes
but if we could live trade at the time of the draft depending on who who on the board then I would wait.
If Gould was available at 15 for instance and he was a guy we had identified as a priority, I;d be drafting him then and there

What are some other ideas that people think the AFL may give us around concessions?

I was thinking with players like Masten approaching us who have no other options but can provide experience that we are apparently seeking would the AFL provide us with additional rookie list spots to pick up players with AFL experience that no other teams want via the draft (e.g. Dale Thomas, Harry Taylor, Harley Bennell).

I Don’t think picks will be given... maybe a higher spending cap on player welfare

Getting Rowell and Anderson.

Where does that leave Brodie Fiorini Ainsworth Miles Miller Swallow Powell and Weller.

Miller, Brodie and Miles are fairly 1 dimensional.
Inside mid only.

Fiorini Weller Powell can play HB wing or centre

Ainsworth and Swallow HF and centre

Rowell is inside mid only and Anderson will roll through HF and centre.

Who gets a game first.. Brodie Miller or Miles?

I think you can squeeze the others in best 22
Touk will miss out from all those. Miles next after he's filled the gap until young kids upgrade. Plenty of outsiders in that bunch - will need to go forward or on to wings I guess....and some of course may not stay the journey. Still need a Selwood type to hold all the youth together in the guts which would probably see Miles drop down the pecking order.

I have Miles above Touk

I agree for a pure midfield role Miles is in front. I feel that Touk may have a slight edge in terms of being more flexible to play different roles (tagger/fwd tag), which when it comes to picking 21/22 player may give him the edge.

How many years did we sign Touk up for?

How annoyed would everyone be if our PP was end of first round?

Probably will make the difference between keeping Rowell in 2 years if his mate doesn't come, which has a knock on effect as to whether Lukosius / King sign on.

If we don't get it it will not be annoying, it will be disastrous.

There is very little point in an end of first round PP
We could try trade it for a mater age player but in this climate no one wants to come to us that would be worthy of such a pick.
Would just illustrate that the AFL do not truly want to see the club become a success - it is a must do decision from them.

Sad thing is Touk bleeds Yellow and red.
Is a true clubman.
Be sad if he got pushed out.
Would see 2MP head home too you’d think if Touk got moved on

Touk' not the kind you want to move on IMO.
Good depth - there will invariably be injuries - he can step right up and do a job. Can come in if you want a dedicated tagger.
Leader who can teach the midfield in the NEAFL when asked to play down a grade.

Played 100 games for us - I still reckon he'll be a 150-200 game player for us.

He came 6th in our best and fairest playing 18/22 games and won the players player awards

From the club website

"Off the field Miller is also a dedicated teammate and strong leader within the group.
He leads with his voice in team meetings and his words carry weight with his peers.
Still only 23-years-old, Miller’s commitment to the club and team-first mentality make him a rightful winner of the Players’ Player award. "

You'd have to find a place in the 22 for Touk, even if it is the back pocket. He's just such a trier.

There is going to be an opening for a back pocket stopper once Barb's retired. Could he be worse than Dawson or Joyce?

I don't really understand Miller's criticism.

He carried injury for the half of the season, could not train. He had some excellent games early. He runs both ways, tackles, works hard, can tag, has speed, can play multiple positions, great teammate, clubman. I take him over Miles in a heartbeat. Compare their stats. Yes, he made some terrible clangers but so did all our midfielders as we are mostly under pump.

Miller disposals 22 DE 72% tackles 5.8, Miles 21 63% 3.8, Swallow 23 65% 3.9, Fiorini 25 61% 4.7, Macpherson 18 60% 6.1
It looks like Miller actually had the best DE from our full time inside midfielders this year and is our best tackler together with Macpherson.

Did Tom Browne just say the commission will decide this week to give us a priority pick after our first pick.

Everyone in the media is convinced we're going to get it and at this point there's really no logical reason to suggest we won't.

Browne also said Anderson's father played over 80 games for Hawthorn. I just had a look online and he also played 67 games for St Kilda. So we have to be prepared for both the Hawks and Saints chasing him every year if we're going to draft him.
