Crouch wants out AFL bubble cities and loves the GC lifestyle. He's keen. Ditto Greenwood.
SO I'M TOLD

1 and 2 should be off the table
Luko should be off the table but if he says he wants out then you have to think about what that looks like if we are getting a worst deal next year.

This trade period buzz is like a drug. On a high now but will come down when these players re-sign on massive long term deals.
Poor people dream of winning tattslotto.
Suns fans dream of good players coming. It’s the hit we need

I've said it before so not a new thought but Suns and Southport should merge, use the Sharks ground as home base, supporter club base and HQ and build on the membership numbers that are there. Suns don't lose anything while Sharks jump into big league.....but won't happen of course.
It should happen but the name sharks won’t fly as a national brand for the GC, so it would have to be incorporation of the colours and perhaps recognition of the sharks logo on the top back of the jumper where the GC logo currently is.

The smart thing to do would be to sell it to the AFL that the merger makes the club more economically viable and gives the AFL the chance to walk away which I think they would love to do

Best result for Martin is a late first, I'm guessing it gets done for an early 2nd. Would still need at least a swap of next year's firsts to get the deal done. Adelaide might even press for next year's first outright.
Stick with developing Brodie, Powell, Fiorini, Bowes, Ainsworth IMO. Im sick of us giving up the world for mercenarys

We need a mix of developed players and players brought in. Our players would benefit from more midfield quality like Crouch playing with them.

Agreed l think we have a massive developing youth upside HUGE. But the Club has 110% identified its list needs and these players fit it like it or not.
Experience Hard Body Wins Possession Good skills. That's the criteria.

If the Suns don't win games and climb off the bottom, those players won't re-sign. We've seen that movie before. I don't think that means they need to mortgage the future totally for short-term boosts, but it is vital to add a few good veterans. What mercenaries have you given up the world for? Ellis didn't come cheap perhaps, but a player like him is necessary.

I like the fact that we have quite a few irons in the fire.
Missed on a few already, but still having a crack.

I am all for going large this year and trying to get our best 22 a fair bit better. Would be OK if we have 4 or 5 of our best 22 at the start of this year running around in NEAFL at the start of next year.

Ellis is not perfect but is clear best 22 for us. The average salary is close to 400 these days so 600 is an overpay but not a ridiculous one, and is young enough so that 5 years is a worry but probably Ok.

On the rest of the names, wait for a week or two and see if the names are still there. Lots of posturing this time of year.

And lets think of his experience. Premiership and finals experience. He is also 25. Also you have to dig a bit deeper to get someone from FA, out of victoria and over the QLD. I don't think its that bad. What was Jack Martin on? $500k?

I would be happy to put our 2020 first rounder up for sale for the highest bidder if it can bring us great experience.
Yep, it's likely a #1 or #2 pick. If the AFL gives us the PP this year and Rowell & Anderson extend straight away, sell next years off for sure.

As a Crows supporter, but putting my impartial hat on, here's my take on a few trades with GC.

Greenwood is a classic utility player, can probably play him just about anywhere, but is a tackling tall inside mid that has the ability to rest up forward and take grabs. Is a very good set shot. Late 1st to early 2nd is what Crows will chase, early to mid 2nd is prob what they'll get. Have a look at his champion data stats.

GC should, imo, be gunning for both the Crouch brothers, Jenkins and Greenwood. If you get them now then you know they'll finish their careers at GC. Stability is what you've been lacking, and the 3 mids are an excellent group to base a midfield around. Crows fans would be sad to see them go. My gut feeling is that GC are being used (in a similar way to we're being used by Grundy) to drive up his bargaining position with Adelaide. I think he's genuinely settled here, seems to be a wide gap between what he's saying personally, and what his management are feeding to media.....

Depends if there's some crazy AFL $$$ incentive being thrown up to Crouch that is too good to miss. Crows are reluctant to give him 5 years, seems to be the only sticking point. I still think that if the GC offer Crows something moderately 'overs' then it might tempt them not to budge in their offer to Crouch. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

If it is 600K per year that is not overpaying by too much. I was expecting that figure. Anyway hopefully it might help to attract other free agents and trade targets.
Lynch is apparently on $500K per season at the Tigers at the moment. It makes $600K per season for Ellis look ridiculous. It supports the theory that the Suns need a higher Salary Cap. Not that we'll get it.

Lynch is on a lot more than that

It's a 5yr deal that either ends up averaging around a million a season over the 5 years or is a million in the last couple- you never really know- but at some point he's on a million a year or more

If the news about Brad Crouch is indeed true and we were to get Hugh Greenwood I would be looking at giving the crows 3 top 25 picks with the state of this draft... maybe Lions pick 15, then try and trade up into the draft to get two end of first rounders or earlier second rounders. Ideally Rowell, Anderson and Budarick is all we need in the draft
