List Mgmt. 2019 Draft/Trade/FA Thread - Final Wrap

The issue with Greenwood is going to be, now that there has been a clean out at Adelaide. He could very well change his mind and decide to stay in SA, they could just offer him the 3rd year he wants. Would make us look like right idiots if he bails now, more draftees are going to do nothing for us.
So you would give up pick 20 for Greenwood (that's what Crows want at the moment)? Especially when we can have him for free. He spent a lot of time in SANFL in 2018. He nominated us and I am sure we update him on the situation making sure he's ok with it.
Also disappointing with the lack of us chasing anymore targets
Who says that? According to Cameron we have a couple more mature targets. The question is can we convince them to join us. Let's be honest - How attractive Suns are after 18 consecutive losses, 3 wins and percentage in 60. At the same time we can't go over salary cap. If you were a player would you want to join us?
If we leave this trade period with just Greenwood and Ellis it has been a failure IMO
Quite the opposite in my opinion. Considering where we are it's more than I would expect.

Nope he is definitely not worth 20, I would pay something around 30 - 35 FWIW. But again I am not in the position to make these deals.

No, coming off that many loses in a row, we aren't an attractive prospect, however, we need to do something. We can't just rely on a bunch of 18 year Olds coming in otherwise next season will be similar to this year. If that means having to overpay a bit then so be it, because if we don't get in more mature talent, the money we are saving for King and Lukosius will be superfluous because they won't be here.

My only issue Craig seemed to be very up and about with the mature talent he could bring in, I don't know, he seems to have over promised and under delivered so far, usually we would have heard of something by now if anyone was coming in, even if it was only primary discussions, hopefully I am proved wrong by Wednesday evening. But that is just my 2 cents.

“Ben is playing at Gold Coast next year, and if he doesn’t sign and looks to move next year we’ll talk to him,” Lethlean said.
But the Herald Sun can reveal that the Dogs’ interest goes back several months and is well-known to the King camp.
Suns list manager Craig Cameron on Friday confirmed he had tabled a contract extension to King, which remained unsigned.
But Cameron said he was “confident” King would recommit and sources close to the Haileybury product agreed that he was a good chance to stay put.

Apparantely didn't even want to go to st kilda. before the draft, he told HS, he preferred to stay in melbourne (but was happy to go anywhere) and wanted to play for the dogs.

Carlton > 2020 first (12), 2020 3rd (42)
Gc > Martin and 2020 bris second round (30)
Pick 17 equivalent

Bris > 2020 second round (30), 2019 34
Gc > ah chee, gc 2020 3rd (38)
Pick 28 equivalent

Gc > Carlton 2020 3rd (42), 58
Adelaide > greenwood
= pick 33 equivalent

Gc in: greenwood, pick 34, Carlton 2020 1st, bris 2020 second
Out: Martin, ah chee, gc 2020 3rd, 58

It never bloody ends

Obviously all Melbourne clubs
And you’d think all clubs would enquire about a young prodigious talent.

“Still a chance to re-sign”

Why is there not this degree of speculation about all unsigned rookies.
He and lukosius not the only ones!

Yeah Ellis and Greenwood alone is much better than last year’s haul of Miles, C. Ellis, “God He’s Slow” and Murdoch. Plus we have to be very careful not to overload the list with too many C-Graders so we can focus on getting games into our A-Grade kids.

I'd go (if fit):

Ballard Thompson Hombsch
Broadbent Collins Harbrow

(Burgess and Hanley as needed) - totally respect your opinion though.
I think Lukosius will start next season again in defence. Here is my 6.

Harbrow Thompson Ballard
Lukosius Collins Hanley

Hombsh, Burgess ahead of Broadbent.
Personally, I would much rather prefer Suns talking to McIntosh than Broadbent.

Those mongrels in the VFL media just talk about King to St Kilda like it’s already happened. Getting his signature is absolutely imperative for our perception in the VFL and of ourselves AND if we go and get Max too then it’s a game changer in our history.

Gods great gift from the VFL Mark Evans get it done.

If Evans doesn’t get Ben King’s signature then I want Evans head on a stick. It’s that important.
Evans and his lovely wife did take both King and Luko in for 12 months to provide a family home to help them (and their parents) while away from home for the first time. Not many CEOs go to that length.
He's restructured the whole club which was a basket case & takes time to respond personally to supporters if you contact him.
Finally he orchestrated and presented a rescue package which includes freebie academy kids (no bid matching), PP picks including pick 1, extra rookie picks, Darwin zone and more. This package was so complete & thorough that the AFL accepted it in whole.

Don't let clickbait Victorian clowns bother you. He was $1.10 favourite to join St Kilda one day, next day the Bulldogs are favourites. He'll grow with this group for another 12 months. He'll re-sign as the fine print suggests in that story.

Excellent post valid points
Love it
But these signatures will be defining

Yet, Bods is getting ready to put his head on a stick. Too funny.

Real changes started with Evans. We are lucky to have him. No stick for me regardless whatever happens with young boys.

We will have some serious top talent on our list next year - Rowell, Anderson, Luko, King, Rankine. Add Ainsworth, Bowes, Brodie, Fiorini, Ballard. Not sure we will be able to keep them all long-term. In 3-4 years with no extra cap we may actually follow GWS plan and let 1-2 go for great picks. Cameron indicated this in one of his interviews.

No matter what I can't wait to watch them all next year.

Things I heard today:
B. Crouch - things went cold for a while, which is partly why the vic clubs became interested. But talks are open again. Suns not upping their offer on the picks and contract $$ and crows and crouch not budging on what they want. Still a decent chance to happen though as crouch wants out of Adelaide.
Lukosius - more likely to stay than go next year
B. King - more likely to go than stay next year. A strong/improvement year next year may persuade him to re-sign though.

At lease the Crows and bombers and greedy Bell have taken some heat off us this trade period. Media love to kick you when your down as we all know. Let's hope we can be competitive next year and stick it up the Vic mafia and there sheep. I would love the team to win some more games next year to reward the players. They deserve it.
