I don't think we'll have that option. If Martin goes to the draft, he'd be silly not to nominate the salary he wants.
Depends on whether he signs another contract
Plenty of wantaways this trade period who didn't get a deal done who will play on for their Clubs either playing out contracts or signing new ones
Papley
Daniher
Wines
Brad Crouch
Will be interesting to see how it all plays out
Carlton will have to come up with some creative accounting to ensure neither we or Melbourne are interested
What we do know is they do "creative accounting" better than trading so they might get it done with some Visy brown paper bags

Admire the Suns for standing firm on the Martin deal the Carlton offer just not good enough.
The reality is Martin zero chance to be playing with the Suns next year and Carlton will get him for nothing but a high salary.
I am probably alone here but Martin was a huge disappointment in my eyes.
Cost us Pick 2 plus lots of money and in return we get nothing.
Performed well below what you would expect from such a highly regarded teenager.
Had some good moments but went missing far too often.
Talent only takes you so far ,commitment both on and off the field are needed at this level.
The only sadness for me is we got nothing for him.

Gould is pretty likely to be there. Dropping out of top 10 contention due to poor testing at the combine. We would be stupid not to take him at 15

He won't be there at 15 and i will take a $100 bet that says he is gone by then. I will make the bet open to all comers as I could use the cash.

Of course he tested poorly - he is a gun footballer not a gun athlete. Captain of SA, back to back all Australia at u18 level, high level contributor as an intercepting defender who can also be your designated kicker on a SANFL premiership team and Rd 1 ready made.

I agree he is an absolute gun. He just won't be there at 15 and will probably go around 10.

Smaller McGovern. I am not sure we need him though. Lukosius and Ballard play his role for us.

I hope Martin puts 900k on his head for the PSD, we may not get anything for him with picks but at the least the Blues have to overpay to get him there $$$$$

I saw this price being floated by one of the Carlton nuffies in the trade thread. One of the same posters gloating that they will get Martin for free and also that their offer of a future 2nd and 3rd was fair.

If they want to pay Martin $1.8m over two years then they can go right ahead.

Any future picks for 2020 mean nothing, not since its the most compromised draft in a long time. 17 of 40 or so players are tied to clubs, so a future pick means nothing. And so they would get him free this year anyway, because they weren't willing to part with anything worthwhile in 2019 draft.

anyone think Nick Robertson from The Lions would be a good DFA pickup for us? Tough bastard and would be our best 22 I reckon, went in for Robinson and did a good job

Happy to be shot down with stats though

Can turn it over. But agree he is tough as and a pest on the field which I like. Would be awesome depth at worst. Id be happy if we picked him up.

Probably because your club is currently having a massive impact on the Integrity of the competition. Just a thought.

But Goodluck:)
No where near the impact of cheating the salary cap of tanking

Jog on your on thin ice

Yep. I was only addressing the suggestion of re-drafting him on a performance-based salary. If he signs another 1 year contract with us without going to the draft, it gives him a good chance of getting to the club of his choice as a restricted free agent at the end of next season. I reckon he'd be more interested in getting a big salary next year, rather than trying to get to any particular club the year after, so will probably just nominate a big salary & go into the Pre-Season Draft.

If he is there at 15 and they don't take him I wouldn't know what to tell you.

Lukosius is a future forward and I won't say he is better than Ballard, but he is better than Ballard (hopefully Ballard can become the 2nd KPD and Gould could take over as 3rd tall defender as only 191cm but already more physically developed).

I remember when he called us 'soft' before a QClash and then didn't even lay a tackle. 😆

I know who I'd back in a knife fight

Have you seen Gould? He is a man child - 191cm 98kg who kicks the ball 60m and absolutely smashes blokes.

Comparison is taller and heavier Shannon Hurn.

Don't know about knife fight but this kid would be pretty handy in hand-to-hand combat.
