Luko on Dew.
Lukosius said the players were excited Stuart Dew was in for the long haul as the club prepares to sign him to a new contract.
“It’s great to know he is as invested as we all are at the club,” he said.
“Him and his family love being at the club and he’s rock solid there.
“He has a great understanding of the game and has great relationships with the players we are stoked to have him.”

So the word on the Street is Gil has said no to redrafting Martin but is sending dollars North to retain King Lukosius and Rankine
Explains the softening up AFL puff piece anyway

So that VFL school tie weak leader is quite fine with draft tampering then if it’s a precious big VFL club
He’s a joke

What a day! Starts off with the demon beating Goffin this morn, Ben Simmons hits a three and now Luko!
I'm pretty sure Simmons said he will start taking and making threes if Brett Brown signs on to be his national Coach.. not sure about Luko but super news..
Rowell, Anderson and Bowes out of the middle to King and Luko for the next 12 years!!!

Love this part.

“I really want to be a versatile player but I would like to eventually settle as a forward playing alongside Ben. It’s exciting to think about playing with him.

“We both want to develop together and we could be building something pretty special. We have some good mids developing too and I can’t see why we can’t take the league on for a long time.”

On the off side about Jack Martin -- https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/11...ld-coast-chief-on-carltons-pursuit-of-martin/

“We simply didn’t do the trade because we didn’t think it was the level of compensation that we required. We had pretty good discussions with Carlton early and they understood that.

“But we felt that they didn’t exactly chase that very hard across trade period as they were wrapped up in other things.

Doesn't seem they will draft him.

Evans also touched on the likelihood of the Suns re-drafting Martin in the pre-season draft.

He added: “It’s a possibility. Whether it’s probable or not…

“I don’t think that there’s a lot to be gained sometimes by forcing someone to stay against their will.

“But there’s still a conversation to be had and a list management decision to be made before we head into draft.”

Questions a week out, putting my Suns hat on. Nephew in the academy

1) will we take 6 picks into the draft
- Only 5
2) if so will we pass on the last two
- Pass on last
3) if we elevate Dawson or Holman do we still get six picks
- Holman
4) if Gore (only one now that could I think) gets a bid from another team do we use one of the last picks to match
- would be the most decorated small forward after pick 50, depends on who we get in first four picks whether we match
5) can we get a delisted free agent with one of the last two picks
- yes Walker
6) will we combine 15 and 20 for something higher
-no
7) will we enter the preseason draft to retake Martin
-no
8) we should have three positions in rookie draft at least , who do we take
- Gore if available, Parnell , Jungfer

It’s good news re Luko but like King it’s not brilliant news. Extending for two seasons to me is still a bit ‘one foot in, one foot out’. Like they’re okay with serving their footy apprenticeship up on the Gold Coast but as soon as they’re 22 and have 60-80 games under their belt all options are open.

For top echelon talent like this you want longer commitments these days. Full and unquestionable buy in for five plus years. A two season extension keeps the wolves at bay temporarily but does not eliminate the threat. Far from it.

You're the type of person to trip on a $50 note and complain it wasn't a $100

Only in your world top draftees re-sign long term.

Sometimes I read BF and my brain explodes.
Luckily we will be going hard after Max King in a couple of years since he only committed to a 2 year extension. As well as Connor Rozee and the other 2 Port 1st round draftees. And Sam Walsh. And.....wait, am I missing something?
