Loading up this year, imagine the Suns actually having midfield depth, its un heard of. Its overs but not in the same league as the pick 2 for Weller deal.

Spot on. We need the wins to come ASAP. Yeah we need to plan for the future but if the wins aren’t forthcoming in the next two - three years all the good work will go down the shitter when these kids start to get tempted a la Prestia and Lynch.

We started with 1,2,15,20 and have turned that into Rowell, Anderson,Flanders & Sharp

Surely no complaints here? We’re in the best position since maybe 2014-15 and we just got 4 guns for basically finishing last.

We will have 50 players that will have to fit into 22, spots will be tight and now there’s 10+ potential A graders. We’re on the up

I know I just find it funny that because of our wealth of pick we are happy to overpay

as an example we could of traded for Martin and the ontraded those picks for 27, instead we go here’s pick 11

Exactly - I think we’ve come off well

swear some people on here think our recruiting and coaching staff we’re picked up off the beach - they know what they’re doing

Weller was a known commodity for an unknown pick, this is much more comparable and it is heavily weighted in geelong's favour. Sharp looks to be terrific, he looks like he fits our needs but I can't help feel flabbergasted at that trade.

Pick 11 could have been used on a kid, or traded for a Jake Carlisle type, could have been anything really, but what's done is done.

Gave up pick 11 lol, the clubs must lick their chops dealing with us, we pay massive overs but give away players like Martin for nothing. I think I could do this job. I can see it now,
“ I want pick 30 and they say well it will cost you pick 20 next year and I go fu** that I will give you pick 1 or it’s no deal.......on the other end of the phone you hear ummmm ok that’s a deal then.”

Unfortunately I think in the hours, days, weeks to come we are going to get a lot of that type of criticism Iva.

We actually started with 1,2, 15, 20, pick 11 2020 and came away with those 4 players.

Can't believe how cheaply we got Sharp, the kid can run for days and has a lethal penetrating kick, the way he moves reminds me of Lachie Whitfield.

He will be an elite wingman.

Club made a few visits across the country to meet him & do their homework and rated him 12-18. That pick 11 in a compromised draft was a freebie and will blow out to 15 anyway.

Remember watching him in 2018 as an underage AA when he was ineligible for the draft and thinking he was a star, would love to pick him up. Appears to have stagnated a little this year (was ill early which might explain it) but still good enough to be a dual U18 AA. Has a great physique and athleticism for AFL.

I said this last year and it was met with a fairly aggravated response on here. He just doesn’t have enough tricks in his bag to keep a starting spot in the midfield
Hemwas a good midfield for us in the past but I think he either needs to develop himself into another part of the field cause our midfied is bursting with people who want a chance.
Ellis, Greenwood, swallow, Rankine, Brodie, macpherson, Miller, Flanders, Sharp, Rowell, Anderson, Weller, bowes, ainsworth, Miles off the top of my head all are midfield players in the past or expected to play midfield.
I see ellis, Greenwood, Swallow, rowell, Brodie, Bowes as my favourites for that mid field. Players like Ainsworth, Anderson and Macpherson are able to play forward and role into the midfield, probably swapping with players like Greenwood or Bowes. I'm glad the midfield is going to be contested because previously it was whoever we could make fit and that really limited us while now we might see miller take another step up or Macpherson push harder for that spot.
Gonna be hard to land a spot in the best 22 this year for a lot of these recruits and I think tht's the best outcome. So what if Rowell and Anderson aren't playing every game. Our NEAFL team will be the strongest it has ever been and I believe the team will become a lot closer over the next year

No- too slow
I wonder if we might see Sean Lemmens morph into that defender role because I doubt he's going to get the small forward role ahead of Rankine Sexton Ainsworth et al
He'd have to I suppose. Unless someone gets injuried or he really improves, it's gonna be hard

We drafted some elite midfield talent but even elite talent needs usually at least a couple of years to play significant minutes in midfield. It took Bowes and Ainsworth 4 years to look ready. Not mentioning Brodie. Fiorini is 5 years in a system and only now looks ready.

If Sharp is as good as some are saying on here then we've done well. Parting with next years pick #11 seems a bit steep, but if recruiters had him at that range then it's a moot point. Get that player in earlier and develop him.

Hopefully he can learn to play wing at AFL level. We have no-one really for him to learn that craft off of. Maybe Ellis?

I am happy to be criticised, I don’t pretend I am perfect and am as wrong as often as I am right but I don’t see many other clubs constantly giving up overs like we do. 11 for 27, 2 for Weller, Martin for zip, Harley given away for some magic beans

Yeah I hope we don't chuck rowell and anderson in the midfield just to show them off. In the past we've done that and all they do is get injured

suppose the time will come when we're taken seriously and can pay the same as sydney or brisbane. It'll come with winning games, sometimes I feel like the recruiters give overs to avoid the headache and blame that gets chucked on them (ala martin)

Seriously we can’t win. Even from some of our own supporters. Overpay and we get criticised. Play tough for a fair price a la O’Meara, Prestia and Martin and we get criticised. This criticism reeks of jealousy from opposition supporters and never being satisfied from our own supporters.
Cheer up. It’s the only time of year Suns supporters get any joy and hope. Stop being negative Nellies.
