Thoughts on Jordan Lewis joining the Suns next year with his mate Shaun Burgoyne ?

Lewis did special comments for our game on the weekend and his knowledge of the game and the way he could see how things were playing out before they even happened was unbelievable.
He had a few good things to say about the Suns as well, and seemed like he had done a lot a research on us.
He also talked us up on his regular AFL360 gig this week

Very high footy IQ. Evans is doing a lot of asking. So l'm told.

I wouldn't be surprised if at least all first round draftees have to sign an initial 3 year contract once our submission is put to the AFL.
As it stands 2 year deals are too short for a club's big investment.

Last years first rounders
- Rankine
- Caldwell
- Max King
- Sturt
- McHenry
- Smith
- O'Hallaran
- McLennan

All yet to play one game whilst they adjust to AFL requirements, injuries etc.
7 of those have gone interstate and those clubs deserve a better guaranteed investment.
If we knew Ben and Luko had 2 years left, we'd feel a lot more comfortable.

2 years is absolutely ridiculous

And with 3 years they could wait until well into their 2nd season before making a decision on an extension. A much better time to make a decision.

Dew said in his Q Clash press conference that we may not improve for another 12 months!!!
Presumably much of that improvement will be based on the performance of guys like King Lukosius and McLennan
And if they go after 2 years then......
Rinse Repeat
You can have all the backroom and front office stuff you like but if players don't see finals in their 5 year window they'll walk

Looking at it glass half empty, may also mean we aren’t expecting to trade in any quality best 22 players this year that would help lift us up the ladder?

From what I’ve seen of the plan that’s correct - this year and next year are foundation, 2021 is aiming up the ladder, aiming for a GF 2023.

Slow burn but it’ll be worth it to do it properly - will set this club up for 50 years

That’s pretty much in line with what happened at the Lions.

Fagan started in 2017. We had the same win loss record in ‘17 and ‘18. But we showed marked improvement in many other metrics, most noticeably our percentage.

But we have also added some genuine talent through trades, that have accelerated our progression.

If I was Jack Martin I would have second thoughts about the bombers if there is any truth to the rumour

Brad Crouch and Angus Brayshaw should be at the top of your wish list. Two quality, big bodied inside mids entering their prime. Add Stephen Hill in FA for some class outside. An experienced midfield group of Witts, Swallow, Crouch and/or Brayshaw and Hill is quality and surround them with all the young talent e.g. Fiorini, Weller, Bowes, Ainsworth and Rowell/Anderson.

Sounds good. The only way to attract their interest at the moment is to offer double money. Hello AFL, how about some extra salary cap.
