Find it funny that Carlton were trying to do a deal with Adelaide to get pick 6 for their 9. They could have had the earlier pick if they didn't blow it on Stocker the previous year.

Seems Carlton prefers quantity over quality and I'm sure it will bite them in the ass again like it did when they traded in all those GWS hacks

Is this a good time to raise the fact that if Shocking and Shifty Sheehan didn't shaft us on the Ellis compo we would have had the final 2 picks last night.

If we'd also drafted Robertson, Worrell, Jones or Sharp last night to add to Dow how would we all feel today?

Also what sort of deals would have been thrown at us given the quality still available?

Do you believe that he is a star of the competition based on his output? The first initial point I was making is that I don’t think he is. Secondly, I think that his 2019 season specifically was at the level of a fringe player. I didn’t really think he was that much of an essential player, hence why I used the term fringe player.

It’s a personal opinion I have of him, but you guys are more than welcome to disagree with me if you view him differently. My opinions on AFL aren’t the most informed, so I am happy to acknowledge that I could be wrong on him.

Very few players are actually stars, there are lucky to be more than 2-3 or taken in any given draft. They also easier to find in the top half dozen picks.

But I do rate Rioli as the best defensive forward in the comp, his (and Graham’s) efforts in that regard stand out in a team that is renowned for its defensive pressure. He was an important cog in the machine that got our best game up and running in the second half of the year with his defensive efforts. He leads our small forwards in that regard and it’s very important for us playing our best footy.

He also has game breaking ability (4 goals in a prelim including a couple of absolute gems) if he shows it inconsistently, and I think we under estimate how much his broken foot set him back in that regard given it took about 8 months for him to start playing footy again. That’s a serious break.

Any first round pick that plays 200 games and in a couple of premierships at your club is a good player given the cut throat nature of the industry. Dan has 2 premierships, and fingers crossed wins some more, and by then end of next year will hopefully have played 100 games. So more than halfway on that return as a good pick less then halfway thru his career, with potential to get much better.

Why wouldn't the Blues just pick for their own needs and not worry about what the Tigers are going to do. We have totally different game plans and player needs to pull it off.

Carlton look rather stupid worrying about what other clubs are doing. They ended up wrong last year with Stocker and again this year with Philip - a guy that we never intended to take and even if we were, nowhere near the pick they used.

Carlton, the gift that just keeps on giving. I was amazed they took Kemp to be honest, they need players that can improve them now, not in another 12 months time. Good pick up but not what they needed this year. They will never learn.

It was reported at the time that Stocker was told by our recruiters that he had flaws and he did not take it well. We were never going to take him after that. Not the type we want at our club. If you look back a few pages you will see the articles about his interview with us.
