Has us taking
Trent Rivers / East Fremantle / 189cm / 85kg
Big bodied HB / Midfielder type who shows real intent and hardness at the contest. Think he probably starts as more a HB type where he can lock down and then attack. His decision making and ball use are effective and he shows a bit of power and speed in his running. Beauty of this kid is doesn’t really have a weakness.
Why / Who else – A classy HB such as Bianco or quality inside mid like Stephens or Rivers if they got to here. Have also had them looking at players like Georgiades and Jones. Hard to know what the club with everythi
Karl Finlay / South Adelaide / 192cm / 88kg
Was a key defender at champs but at 192cm does he play that role at AFL or more a Grimes role. Suspect the latter and has the traits to be able to do it. Bit dour but does everything pretty well and can defend and attack. In the air he is smart with his body use and genuinely plays taller than 192cm. I liken him a bit to Sam Taylor. Just a very solid player who is going to give you something at the elite level.
Why / Who else – Hilder / Newman would be other tall defenders they could look at.
Ryan Byrnes / Sandringham Dragons / 182cm / 84cm
Had a really good year and is another who shown can play in and outside the contest. Quick, good vision and makes good decisions but kicking can let him down at times. Probably in the 30-60 range for me as a result but could have admirers much earlier.
Why / Who else – Garcia is one I could see them taking. Got a bit of Cotchin about him.
# 44 Richmond
Brock Smith / Gippsland / 189cm / 82kg
Impressive medium defender who had a strong year at Gippy and then backed it up with some nice stuff at the Champs. Reads the ball coming in the air well, happy to drop in the hole and a good mark. If the ball hits the ground he is a one composed one touch player. With ball in hand he is good on the rebound and makes good decisions. Really solid pick late.
Why / Who else – Jesse Clark
Brady Rowles - Bendigo / 186cm / 75kg
Quick and skillfull defender who when on his best looks a terrific prospect. Has real speed and power in his running and he can hit targets. He can have some clangers and needs to work on that but his best is good.
Why / Who else – Ben Johnson or Jarvis Pina. Pina strikes me as a Richmond type and could well slot him here late.
Rookie:
Ben Kelly / Murray Bushrangers / 203cm / 100kg
I am impressed by him. Doesn’t have the flexibility others in the pool have but he is a big boy and fits that Soldo / Nankervis type.
Cheers Snoop. ✔

That to me from reading profiles 12 minutes ago sounds perfect.![]()
2019 Draft Central Phantom Draft
THE 2019 AFL National Draft is just a couple of days away and it is clear that trying to work out which clubs favour which players is incredibly difficult given the evenness of the draft crop outside the first round. Even inside the first round, preferences will play a huge role in where players...afl.draftcentral.com.au
Richmond: Cooper Stephens, Dyson Hilder, Brock Smith, Jack Mahony, Ryan Byrnes
And totally unnecessary IMO, when it used to be on radio only the draft would be all over in under an hour, now they want to make a huge song and dance about it when half the picks have already been allocated to clubs through academies anyway.Wednesday Night is only the first round.
Thursday is when the rest of the draft is completed

Also i reckon some of the clubs get told to use up their allotted time even though they know who they are going to pick just so the AFL can stretch it out a bit longer, some of those huddles the clubs go into when pretending they have no idea who to pick are as fake as.
Have it on a thursday and be done with it in one night.
I'd love to get both of them.dont want De Koning, Day,
38, 39, 41 not first pick
Would take either at First pick no hesitation, don't think we will get the chance. De Koning could be anything, 200cm and athletic abilities off the chart, could be a Key forward, back or ruck. Day is super silky, once his body develops look out.
Was hearing all week it would be Trent Rivers at our pick, but hearing there could be a more fancied player drop that we weren't expecting. Pickett rising and Freo bypassing Robertson could shuffle a few things. From what i've mapped out, I wonder if that player is De Koning or Worrell? I expect more info to be flooding in by around 5 or 6pm....
We will get a very good player regardless.

and most of those pick trades have already happened.but there wasnt previously a system where you could trade during the draft nba style - hence they need longer now
not an entire day in-between but more than half an hour
if De Koning is available at Richmonds first pick, that wouldn't be unexpected, would it (?)
seems to be rated around 20-30 (?)
Is Stephens still a risk? Not likely to be a recurring injury and he proved at the combine that he has fully recovered.Kemp or C Stephens would be a risky way to go but a nice risk
A month ago, whispers were he had gone into Port or Geelong's picks before us. Robertson dropping may release him to fall. won't be a massive fall but I didnt think he would get through.
200cm bloke who is athletically gifted, good below his knees, reads the play well and has above average skills... he's only discovering his height as he had a massive growth spurt of 15 cm or something crazy recently. I feel at a good club who can develop him, he can be anything. Long term Astbury replacement?

Yup those Academy picks have stuffed the Draft...no drama anymore!...you can't have it both ways AFL!And totally unnecessary IMO, when it used to be on radio only the draft would be all over in under an hour, now they want to make a huge song and dance about it when half the picks have already been allocated to clubs through academies anyway.

We should really be trying to get GWS pick 40. Would be great to see oppo salt regarding Richmond 4 picks in a row. lol
Exactly. We need a developing tall KPP and De Koning has as many tools as any in this draft. Loses nothing in comparison to McAsey in my eyes. He's not the athletic freak that Darcy Moore is (few are) but has the potential to develop on similar lines to Harris Andrews or Alex Pearce as a 200cm key back.200cm bloke who is athletically gifted, good below his knees, reads the play well and has above average skills... he's only discovering his height as he had a massive growth spurt of 15 cm or something crazy recently. I reckon he gets picked up by Geelong just before us.Just about all Phantoms have us taking Stephens now, be a great result
De Koning is the guy that I see as both filling a need and potentially being a star. I know medium/smalls are more certain. And there are a heap of quality other kids available. But we need KPDs for the immediate future. And his attributes are very impressive - if we can develop him.
GWS won't have pick 40. It will be eaten by a Green bid.yeah im with this 100%
would be great to have 4 picks in a row!
