2019 Draft

Does anyone think we may trade picks, either first, second rounds or next years first? I think Hawthorns second pick (26) could be a target. Our first next year + 41. Hawks give our 41 and 42 which they hold presently to match a bid on Maginess.
This would be done after the Hawks first pick. Thoughts?

trading for other clubs future first would be more fun cause deathriding

I've seen a lot of phantom drafts that suggest Geelong will put a bid for Henry at around pick 14 which is only 1161 points or 871 points with the discount. Freo were worried Carlton were going to use their first pick in the draft to nab him so were able to secure a second pick before the Blues but my question is why won't the Blues still try and pick Henry at 9?

With Freo having picks 7 & 8 before Liam is likely to be chosen and their next pick being 49 why would Carlton still not try and select him? I understand Freo can still select him at pick 9 and get 25% discount but surely Carlton (or the rest of the comp) would still want Freo to pay maximum for Henry?

If Carlton selected him then Freo would need to cough up 1469 points less 25% discount = 1102 points. With picks 49,58,69 remaining = 287+170+49 = 506 points. It would mean next year Freo would still lose 595 points from their first pick in 2020. Those 3 picks of course go to the back of this years draft.

So if a club is claiming a decent prospect in the draft as a father son / academy player why wouldn't other clubs still force it to happen if that player is likely to fall around that pick anyway?

Is it just pure speculation that Carlton were going to pick him and only Geelong wanted him? Doesn't make sense to me why opposition clubs wouldn't try and make Freo pay maximum for a kid they clearly want.

They only hold us in good steed if good enough and develop.

What are peoples thoughts on Riccadi who supposedly won best in VFL?

I have a preference for Georgiades as a substitute for JR but not for our first pick. I think he might have enough versatility he will not upset the RFC applecart

Wow actually a good post from you Mr Magic, You have surprised me

Riccardi would be a good get if we decide to go that way but only with our last pick #56 for me , Georgiades is my preferred and if we could nab him with 1 of the 3 picks we have 38-41 even better.

Keep up the good work

Clarke on the RFC video has hinted we'll be looking to upgrade 19 & also 38-40 etc as well

There are certainly some Clubs i'd love to get thier future 1st

hawks essendon saints norf

geelong & collingwood are interesting too

I’d be very happy if we had a chance to select Stephens ...if he lasts until us

looks the goods...outstanding contested ball winner.

its sounds like he will be there ...

from the myriad of reporting via afl jurno types

if its c Stephens and rivers or/and c stephens and kemp thatd be nice too

Has there ever been a year where so many 'Experts' have selected the same player to go to a club as late as Cooper Stephens to Richmond

But what a buzz would it be if we had a choice Brodie Kemp / Cooper Stephens

It seems like lazy thinking, just like Stocker last year.

If we cant trade up for Rowell (or Green) lets trade up for (K) Pickett

roll out a Pickett, Pickett, Rioli, Rioli, Bolton, Edwards, Stack etc. team in the not too distance future

fill in the gaps with Vlastuin, Rance, Cotchin, Lynch etc. types
Who knows i wouldnt be surprised if we have another Indigenous boy added to the group

Shai Meet Jai

are you allowed to trade more than one future first round pick?

20/21 or 20/22 ?
Only if your one of the AFL's plastic clubs.;)
Can't recall it ever happening, so I would say no.
i think it [future pick trading & it happening DURING the draft) only started last year and it was used once (Stocker) so i wouldnt use that as a source
You can't trade consecutive first rounders unless you've acquired an extra first rounder in one of the years.
No, you cannot trade a future pick further than the following year (2020).

This will no doubt come in eventually but as it stands, only the next year can be traded.

Yes to protect dumb clubs like Collingwood who trade 2 firsts for spuds and then desperately try to make up for it by mortgaging another future pick to get a current one lol

its certainly the popular opinion

i dont mind the sounds of c stephens - are worst another solid mid to help Ross and RCD in the twos who are on track for B2B. At best an important part of the '20 AFL premiership
