2019 Draft

The more I've read about Will Day, the more I don't mind the idea of him being our first pick.

Kid is a 189cm 76kg HBF/Wing who can kick well off either side(his disposal is rated as elite overall) with good speed. In the SANFL reserves he averaged 17 disposals 5 marks and 3 tackles which is a good sign when playing against more mature players. At U18 level he averaged 26 disposals 8.5 marks and 2.8 tackles a game which shows that he can get his hands on the footy. With Houli getting older another classy outside ball user who could slot into HB could be quite handy in a couple of years and with our current list situation we could allow him to develop in the VFL for a season before starting to integrate him into AFL footy.

I'd be happy with Rivers or Bianco and as we get closer to the Draft, I'm warming to taking a punt on Gould. It's not often you're in a position like us who can take a punt on Gould with your first pick and it won't hurt if it doesn't work out.

I think in the right system where we force teams with dirty forward entries, he would do very well as an intercept defender. I know he's not fast, but we can afford one slower player if he's surrounded by a player like Balta.

Looking forward to the Draft.

Only way i would take a punt on Gould is at #38 , He is not a need for Richmond

You’re taking the piss right?
That draft produced two 2x AFL premiership players, two 1x AFL premiership players and two 1x vfl premiership players.
You are talking about this, not the 2014 Draft!

How many players are with Richmond from the 2014 Draft?

No matter how well you have done previously, it can still go pear shaped!

Only bit I don’t like is the comment that Bantom weights don’t often develop into A graders , that’s the worry investing a r1 selection

Gould is 191cm.
Garth is 192 cm.
Gould is heavier @ 98kg but by the looks of it he's slower than Garth.
Be waste of a pick to be honest seeing we have someone similar and has been in our system now for 2-3ys.
With Day likely gone.Rivers i'd be happy with.

Alongside Day would give us some classy outside ball use, as well as options.

Dyson Heppell was 189cm 76kg when drafted.

Nat Fyfe was 189cm 75kg when drafted.

Bryce Gibbs was 187cm 77kg when drafted.

Lachie Whitfield 184cm 78kg when drafted.

Jack Macrae 188cm 78kg when drafted.

If he's got the talent and the willingness to develop then he'll make it.

Whitfield is prob an exception to the rule , didn’t play very well in the hellfire of a GF though
