2019 Draft

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Loved RCD's game in the VFL gf. Hard running and long bomb goals. Really looking forward to seeing if he develops over the next two years.
some of the photos from training yesterday looks like he has embraced his weight training rather well....... build strength into that body, and he can become a real weapon.

#playslikebont ;)

We really dont have anything of value to offer the Suns

The consensus is that we will have #17-#19 next year similar to 2019 and the suns wont trade the #20 for this pick doesnt matter what steak knives we give them as they just wont use a pick thats beyond pick 20 this year or next year and they no longer require points for their academy selections
Think the chance to have 3 first round picks next year might appeal to them to give them flexibility in next year's trade period.

This is what I would do at the moment if Gold Coast agrees.

Trade RFC 2020 future first and RFC last second rounder in 2019 for Gold Coast pick 20.

If successful that gives RFC 19 and 20 and might be able tp get other draft picks that favour us
They don't need any more 2nd round picks, they would not use them. I can't see a trade with GC being done especially with Collingwood, Hawthorn and even Adelaide targeting pick 15/20. They are going to get a very good deal for one of those picks.

Jeremy Sharp also underrated on Big Footy. Ready to go footballer. Good size. Quick and good skills. Wouldnt mind seeing him in a Richmond jumper on Wednesday night.
Yep.Liked him early on.Ellis replacement.

Man everybody losing THEIR MINDS over this draft except RFC who have kept all their picks for this year and next and just keep banking premiership cups in the trophy cabinet. Lol

It doesn't really matter if it's Cooper Stephens or Trent Bianco or Trent Rivers (whom is clearly some bastard from Game of Thrones) or Kossie Pickett or Will Day (drool) or the big lad Worrall or the midget O'Neil. It. Doesn't. Matter.

We all know that the kids drafted will become Richmond Men when they walk in the door and that's the difference about our club these days.

If they don't make it, it won't be because the club didn't select and develop them well enough.

It's going to take someone special to get past the queue of kids already beating down the door to get into the ones now!

Fridge. Stack. Higgo. Ross. Cholly. Balta. Naish. Egg. RCD. Kmac (!) CCJ, Turner, English...Miller....none of these played in the gf and the ALL have UPSIDE to come.

So relax, enjoy the show and give all you support to the kids we do choose. They're 18 years old in the main and their heads will be full of stars and in about two weeks they're going to be running around PRO getting a handball off Dusty, Jack, Cotch, the one man wall, Lunch, Sheds and Grimes so spare a thought !

Let alone Dion, Bachar, Lambo, Vlaus, Caddy, Rioli, Castagna, Astbury, Mint Cans, Pickett etc.etc.etc...dual premiership players on every line. Future Club Hall of Famers!

Frankly I'd be shitting Myself that I'd drop that handball stargazing! Or cop one in the nads.

The kids are alright. The Tigers are alright and the recruitment department at PRO is particularly alright.

And N.Balme.

Heady days indeed.
Heady days indeed. The 2019/2020 draftees know that they have buckley's of getting a game in 2020. Maybe one of them. But they also know that over a 4 year period, with retirements etc, list spots open up. Stack came from nowhere and cemented a spot in the side. Plus the Pickett fairy tale. Ross has been the only ready to go player. Chol, Garth Balta, Naish, Egg, RCD, CJ, Turner, etc have taken at least 2 years to be really competing for spots. List wise I think we need depth in tall defenders. Worrel or Koening look appealing to develop there.

Always respect and look fwd too Snoop Dog and his PD.
Has us taking

Trent Rivers / East Fremantle / 189cm / 85kg

Big bodied HB / Midfielder type who shows real intent and hardness at the contest. Think he probably starts as more a HB type where he can lock down and then attack. His decision making and ball use are effective and he shows a bit of power and speed in his running. Beauty of this kid is doesn’t really have a weakness.

Why / Who else – A classy HB such as Bianco or quality inside mid like Stephens or Rivers if they got to here. Have also had them looking at players like Georgiades and Jones. Hard to know what the club with everythi

Karl Finlay / South Adelaide / 192cm / 88kg

Was a key defender at champs but at 192cm does he play that role at AFL or more a Grimes role. Suspect the latter and has the traits to be able to do it. Bit dour but does everything pretty well and can defend and attack. In the air he is smart with his body use and genuinely plays taller than 192cm. I liken him a bit to Sam Taylor. Just a very solid player who is going to give you something at the elite level.

Why / Who else – Hilder / Newman would be other tall defenders they could look at.

Ryan Byrnes / Sandringham Dragons / 182cm / 84cm

Had a really good year and is another who shown can play in and outside the contest. Quick, good vision and makes good decisions but kicking can let him down at times. Probably in the 30-60 range for me as a result but could have admirers much earlier.

Why / Who else – Garcia is one I could see them taking. Got a bit of Cotchin about him.

# 44 Richmond

Brock Smith / Gippsland / 189cm / 82kg

Impressive medium defender who had a strong year at Gippy and then backed it up with some nice stuff at the Champs. Reads the ball coming in the air well, happy to drop in the hole and a good mark. If the ball hits the ground he is a one composed one touch player. With ball in hand he is good on the rebound and makes good decisions. Really solid pick late.

Why / Who else – Jesse Clark

Brady Rowles - Bendigo / 186cm / 75kg

Quick and skillfull defender who when on his best looks a terrific prospect. Has real speed and power in his running and he can hit targets. He can have some clangers and needs to work on that but his best is good.

Why / Who else – Ben Johnson or Jarvis Pina. Pina strikes me as a Richmond type and could well slot him here late.

Rookie:
Ben Kelly / Murray Bushrangers / 203cm / 100kg

I am impressed by him. Doesn’t have the flexibility others in the pool have but he is a big boy and fits that Soldo / Nankervis type.

Cheers Snoop. ✔

Too many backmen for mine. I like the sound of Byrnes though for that sort of pick.

Richmond: Cooper Stephens, Dyson Hilder, Brock Smith, Jack Mahony, Ryan Byrnes
