Is absolutely essential to our game plan and Dimma says it every week. Doesn't rack up the stats but his pressure efforts continually force turnovers that set up our scoring opportunities.

But he was dropped this year and didn’t influence the game all that much?

I believe that he was a fringe player on output and I would not say that his output was as integral as many others in the side. That’s what I am basing it on and the fact that he was dropped because of his performance proves it in my opinion.

Our team was wrapt to get Dow. When Carlton traded into 20 we were clearly concerned they were going to match him with his brother. When they did a Stocker for the 2nd year in a row we were rapt

And Dimma said after the Brisbane final that Rioli (and Castagna and Bolton) are absolutely essential to how we play.

Plenty of young kids get dropped as a kick up the arse, it's not a bad thing. Played 22 games out of 25 this year (2 missed thru injury), played 12 games he was fit for last year and 25 out 25 in 2017.
