2019 Draft

Thank you so much for the laughs this morning.

The amount of delusion and hypocrisy in this thread is magnificent reading. Even after a respected journalist who has more inside information than everyone here combined says Richmond were going to take Philp, you believe Richmond were ‘leaking’ information to other clubs? Love it.

Secondly, you do remember prior to 2016 Richmond had achieved nothing in 35 years? Or is everyone here a bandwagoner? 2016 was what, 10 years after Riewoldt was drafted? 9 after Rance? 7 after Dusty? Imagine that.

Finally, this is a Richmond draft thread you and you’ve spent 8 pages obsessing over SOS. He must be doing something right to get your knickers in this much of a twist.

Keep up the good stuff legends!
The jokes on your club and we're the ones enjoying a good laugh.

Firstly this is second straight year SOS has apparently trumped Richmond only for it to become quite clear that Richmond weren't drafting Stocker last year and there has already been a report that we met with Dow last week and locked him in as our first pick.

Secondly, you question why Richmond would leak information to other clubs, but then are taking the word of a journalist whose information is gathered from leaks. Richmond have gone from a club where everyone knew our first pick weeks out from the draft to one where nobody has a clue on who were drafting. This respected journalist you're using to back up your point, didn't link Dow with us once in any of his previews, but you keep on lapping that shit up if it makes you feel better. We'll just have to be content with picking the 2017 or 2019 premiership win to watch until the flag unfurling in round 1.

Thirdly it's 25 years since Carlton were relevant as a premiership contender. In that 25 years they have won 5 spoons and watched as Richmond a team that was described as worse than Fitzroy a decade ago has gone on to become the most professionally run club in the league, in terms of on field results, off field results, coaching & development. Meanwhile Carlton have become even more of a rabble than they were, with SOS running around like a headless chook trying to recruit everyone but then settling for a washed up Betts and some no name Hawks ruckman as his big name recruits. They are paying Jack Martin Dustin Martin like money to secure him and their fans think it's some sort of genius recruiting move.

Finally Carlton are the ones obsessed with Richmond, trying to copy the Richmond blueprint from a decade ago to try and make themselves relevant again.

Not trying to be cheeky, genuinely curious as to where the info about Richmond not being keen on Stocker came from? Haven't been online much this season. Interested to know. Last I was actually properly keeping up with stories like that was last year... One of your boards itks or something?

who the fu** is Rolly Beveridge and how on earth does he have such great connections at Richmond?
Some AFL journalist who Carlton fans are treating as gospel as it makes them feel better about Silvagnis scattergun approach to the draft

It's been very well documented by many papers but it doesn't suit the SOS is the Messiah narrative. We did not rate Stocker and he was almost in tears in our interview after our "feedback". Funny that SOS spruiks that Stocker was the 5th best player in the Draft but couldn't even find the ball in the VFL so was moved to half back.

Blind Freddy knows our gameplan demands elite Endurance and agility, there's no way known Stocker would fit our clubs requirements.

Oh well, is what it is, your mob will keep running with this narrative as a win, while we'll keep winning actual football games.

We weren't as keen on him as Carlton fans like to think we were. IMO Carlton fan have taken us interviewing kids who will be around our pick in the draft as being genuinely interested in them, when it's just doing your due diligence in case our preferred targets aren't there.

Ok so lets talk about the second round.

Any chance of moving up? or do we just sit back and wait with picks 40, 41 & 42. ????
I think we would have already floated to clubs that our future 1st is on the table for probably the next few picks.... but after pick 27 it would be off the table as the value just doesn't align enough. Just a guess... one of those 3 could be involved in a pick shuffle, who knows.

Hopefully Brock Smith lasts until those picks.

oh well we’ll see, rfc is certainly very attractive for younger players, still not sure why so much carlton hate on richmonds draft thread, it’s really confusing

All true, all true

You do realize the point of the AFL is to WIN games though? Any chance you guys one day, in the distant future, a long long long time away, not armwresting Melbourne and GC for povo pics?
I’ll reply to this one as you didn’t resort to blind hatred, ignorant dribble, or straight up abuse.

Yes, clearly we’ve been been bloody awful for many years, but as our young talent continue to grow under Teague’s game plan, I know we’ll start to win many more games as evident in the 2nd half of this year.

FWIW I really rate Thomson Dow and believe you’ve nailed a ripper here. He’s ferocious, agile, has good burst, and is a great size. Great get.

my friend most richmond fans hate Collingwood, Essendon, Adelaide etc. (and those teams are shit too)

no one really cares about carlton you've not been ina gf for 20 years i think...

is at meme stage and is now getting generational

Stocker, Twiggly, Visy, SOS etc. are funny but essentially non important. You could merge carlton and the saints and life goes on no one gaf

Trade up: There are a few sliders, so real value for a pick 25-30ish. But we'd need a good deal. Trading would mean we get one genuine quality player and then lower grade picks.

No trade: We'll get some quality and lots of choice with our picks - cause the number of sliders means that quality goes beyond pick 45. We'd get 3 picks in good quality.

So quantity vs quality divided by the value we can get in a trade.

Also think of 2020. There is a the likelihood that teams with good Academy kids will want to trade in anticipation. We've got one guy. SO possibly we can trade into a lovely 2020 spot whilst helping someone else. The 2020 draft is similar in quality to this year by reports. But so many more kids are aligned to clubs the whole thing will have very different dynamics. It'll mean the unaligned guys get moved up and down in actual draft spots because bids will move picks around everywhere. But overall unaligned kids will get moved to earlier draft picks than usual. This is counteracted by clubs wanting to either trade into an earlier pick to avoid having to match, or trading out to later picks to get the easy points. Could be a heap of picks from 15-30 that clubs are avoiding like the plague. Once we know where our guy is likely to go we can maybe trade into earlier spots and so get extra value.
tldr: Next year's picks might offer great live trading value depending on how clubs are thinking.

Why has the WA captain and Larke medallist slipped?

Not too many that get invited to the first night don't go....

Obviously I assume he will get picked up, but it's a slide already given most had him gone by 10-12 at the latest

Bugger me, these Carlton muppets are swallowing Beveridges tweet hook line and sinker, but then discredit the article where the journalist spoke directly to Clarke.
