2019 Draft

I tell you what Stack, Ross, RCD, Balta, Graham, CCJ and others of that vintage will not be happy. Instead of picking players more ready made like Thayen we went the speculative route for some that are 3-4 years away or not at all.

On top of that Ross and RCD has to compete with the likes of Dow, Cumberland and Marytn for similar spots in the middle at times.

We do not have a ready made Thayen to assist in the forward line without Townsend if we get into a few injuries and so forth either which might be the difference in a final.

I just do not understand the rationale, we have risks and weakness that have not been addressed.

Watching them play I get one of Cumberland and Martyn but not both.

What if we get a significant injury to JR or Martin regarding forward line effectiveness?

you reckon they'd prefer to be competing with Menadue, Townsend, Weller, Ellis etc. ?

like how we went about the 2 bisbane boys...if they turn to be better than average we can do trades with come homes of quality in 3-4 years time
smart play tiges
Welcome home Hugh & Cam. :)

is there still a list spot open?
We have no list spots available as we would have been listed in the rookie draft if we did and would have been able to pass that selection, like Melbourne did with their picks.

The only way we'd be able to add anyone to the list is via a Grigg like retirement prior to the mid season draft.

how annoying

why not get someone in the rookie draft then...

i guess they will trail people over summer and try sign them via the 'supplementary draft' thing Sydney Stack style
Think that might be the plan.
Wonder who though.
(Forget,Just read RT's post)

waiting for Pickett Mk11 in the Mid season

edit....there is the pre season supplemental selection period between Dec-March so likely to slot one in there

Did I read somewhere we were getting Sam Murray from pies ?
Reports were we had interest in him, but I don't think we can list him now as I don't think he qualifies as a Cat B rookie

2 premiership players...1 close to it

wow...surely stack and Baker get an upgrade
Probably get their upgrade next year. We don't need to upgrade them to play AFL with the new rules, what helps is that we save money in the salary cap as not all of a rookies wage gets counted in the cap.

Media so salty...

tigers...bad guys WTF?

Richmond
The Tigers turned out to be the bad guys of the draft, preventing three players from joining the clubs to which they were tied. Midfielder Thomson Dow (21), the younger brother of Carlton’s Paddy, was the final pick of the first night. Richmond then doubled up from the Lions’ academy, nabbing forward Noah Cumberland (43) and midfielder Will Martyn (44). The raw but exciting Hugo Ralphsmith (46) slipped further than some had predicted before the supremely athletic Bigoa Nyuon (54) was plucked from St Kilda’s grasp, with the Saints opting not to match a bid for their academy player. The Tigers had no involvement in Friday's rookie draft.
Recruiting manager Matthew Clarke: "We never sit at the start of the night just to plan to bid on a player. We just have a ranking and an order. So if they come up at our picks and are still available, we're paid to pick the best players for the Richmond footy club."
