News 2019 Fixture - Full Fixture Confirmed

This was an interesting discussion on our fixture this last year. I think it fairly reflects on two issues, we weren't very good in a year when we weren't very well looked after. This was on Fox
https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/af...k=f49e84f5e24400b587ae9f856fcd6e76-1539940536
This was on squiggle

We weren't great, but we didn't have a chance. I expect we will be better next year and realistically could be top 8, just from luck and the draw.

If we had of won every game our fixture would have retrospectively been measured as easy. Just because almost every team we played got four points against us, which was critically important in such a close season, doesn’t actually mean our fixture was harder. In fact, one could argue we were so s**t that our performance actually caused our fixture to be harder!

Should be 5 interstate games.

Then if the AFL wants us in China, we should not have to travel to Geelong. I feel the club wants us once a year in Tasmania so that will be hard to avoid.

AFL did mention that we would get an easier run next year. So with that thinking, and as per the AFL's weighted fixturing rule;

Top six from 2018: Play 0-1 team twice
Middle six from 2018: Play 1-2 teams twice
Bottom six from 2018: Play 2-3 teams twice

I don't know about timeslots but this is how I think the fixture for us will look (in no particular order)

Away vs Richmond
Home vs West Coast

Away vs Collingwood
Away vs Hawthorn (Interstate)
Home vs Melbourne
Away vs Melbourne

Home vs Sydney
Away vs GWS (Interstate)

Home vs Geelong
Home vs North Melbourne
Away vs North Melbourne (Interstate)

Home vs Port Adelaide (China)
Home
vs Essendon
Away vs Adelaide (Interstate)
Home vs Western Bulldogs
Away vs Western Bulldogs

Away vs Fremantle (Interstate)
Home vs Brisbane
Away vs Brisbane (Interstate)

Home vs Gold Coast
Home vs Carlton
Away vs Carlton

=
11 Home Games
11 Away Games
6 Interstate Trips + Trip to China (7 Trips)
Double Up Games Against: Melbourne (T6), North Melbourne (M6), Western Bulldogs (B6), Brisbane (B6), Carlton (B6)

Funny I checked my prediction for 2018's fixture and had everything right except thought we'd play Port at home instead of Away, so hopefully we get a similar result here!

i think we will be playing Melbourne twice for a few years .. i get the feeling the AFL really like to build that rivalry ... plus from what i hear the two teams dont really like each other all that much so its not some manufactured rivalry

i also think the club prefer/request a home game against Sydney as they have a stronger following than the other interstate teams in Melbourne so we tend to get better bang for our buck across the gate

Had forgotten that - a Thursday or Friday night in Geelong looks likely.
urgggg so an entire game of Bruce frothing over how the two teams fortunes have changed since that grand final ...
Cameron "captain obvious" Ling recapping how special that geelong side was ...
and BT giving his best combo of "wowee the boy from Lorne was almost headed down the great ocean road to the geelong football factory to join the Cat in this years trade Boyo boy"

thats a game to mute the sound for sure !!!

i dont think we will have two games in Adelaide ... especially with the China game ..
Also we have had three years of two game in Perth i think we will only get 1 this time most likely against Freo on a sunday twilight ..
i think we will have at least 1 thursday night game and possibly one Friday night game (perhaps against Geelong)

The year after won't get much better.

The Maddie's match stuff is only when St Kilda is the home team.

More to China than just replacing GC.

Was alerted to this months ago.

More to come....

Remember the China game is a Saints home game - so we will have the usual 5-6 interstate trips, plus China, meaning we're on the road at least every 3 weeks.
Chinese whispers???????

Be very interesting if we get to play one game over there.
