Prediction 2019 Fixture

I’m pretty sure Port will play the Bulldogs at Ballarat. The bulldogs will play 2 games there which makes me happy because I’m a Ballarat local. Last year the AFL stuffed up the scheduling. Played the game in winter, and it happened to fall on one of the coldest days of the year. The game must be played in autumn.

And it should not be played at 3:20pm either.

looking at what our 1st home game will look like

obviously it wont be Melbourne or Hawks

It won't be Sydney, West Coast, Gold Coast, Essendon, Melb, North as they travel week 1.
Wont be Adelaide as the showdown won't be that early.
Geelong would want round 2 at Kardinia you'd think.
We have St Kilda in china so it probably won't be them.
Collingwood in Perth for the GF rematch.
think we might end up with Richmond on the Friday night, or GWS saturday 4.15 or Freo sunday 4.10.

No way they'd "waste" a Friday night game or a big drawing crowd in Richmond on Port early in the season when we'll probably get a decent crowd for the first home game anyway.

It'll be Port v Freo, GWS or Brisbane. Almost certainly a Twilight fixture either Saturday or if the AFL are really tired of our performances Sunday. I'll be shocked if it wasn't.

The AFL try to get as many Victorian derbies in as possible in the first 8 or 9 rounds. Last year 6 of our first 9 games were against non Victorian teams. In 2017 it was 7 of our first 8 ie 7/7 non vic teams and 1/10 Vic teams in the first 8 rounds. Such bullshit scheduling. As people have said, nothing surer than Brisbane/GWS/Freo in round 2 at home.

It's not the AFL who does the fixture, it's the TV networks now.

The AFL probably have very little say in it apart from how many days rest they give the clubs in between rounds.

Smart money is on the Sunday twilight game. The club will try to sell the positives of our draw, but it’s going to be a triple decker shit sandwich.

im hearing its the bulldogs which makes sense. we finished 10th this year we are playing a top six side from last year round 1 so it wont be gws as i cant see another top 6 side in round 2.

It’ll probably be GWS, just to make it a hard start for us.

I think that might be the case.

we played Richmond home last season as well, so doubt we'll get them again at home.
we also played Freo 1st home game last season.

GWS it'll be.

You play boring, you get boring.
Unless you're a big Vic club. Or Adelaide or West Coast. We aren't though, so unless we are playing winning football that is exciting to watch (that dreaded 'everyone's second team'), we aren't going to get a bunch of Friday night games.

Though if the FTA networks don't want to touch us, then FFS, ditch the Sunday twilight for a second Friday night game each week that is on Foxtel. I DGAF if we have Friday night home games on Foxtel against 4 of GWS, Freo, Melbourne, GC, Brisbane, St. Kilda, Bulldogs and North Melbourne every year. I'll take that over Sunday afternoon and Twilight with 0.0005 seconds thought.

Worst thing for the club will be a very poor FTA scheduling I suppose.

KT complained about this when the 2018 fixture came out, and after allowing Hinkley to provide games that were dull he will complain again.

We will get what we deserve.

This is the AFL that decided to that the first game at Adelaide Oval should be a Showdown, because the first game at AO totally needed help in drawing more numbers to the ground.

And yet again we play the crers in a ‘summer showdown’, I thought no one wanted that fixture in the pre-season?!?
The AFL have an awful track record of them listening to the fans.

Yep gotta keep them Showdowns special and just have em in the regular season.

How long did that idea last? A year?
