Prediction 2019 Fixture

Easter long weekend is 19th to 22nd. So ANZAC day is a Thursday so we might get a home game Friday night for Rd 6 ANZAC round, or maybe even a Thursday night game after Collingwood and Essendon against one of the sides who played on Easter Thursday.

Richmond, Melbourne, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn or Carlton all have confirmed games on that weekend. You'd suspect Geelong, having played Monday the week before, would get a Sunday game too. With not a great deal of choices left, I'd say we're a fair chance at the Friday slot.

Where is the Rd 5 draw?

Where is the Rd 5 draw?

Its Easter Round, so we know:

Brisbane v Collingwood Thursday Night
North v Essendon Good Friday Arvo
West Coast v Port Good Friday Night

and we can assume

Geelong v Hawks Easter Monday

Adelaide apparently have a home game on Thursday Night in Round 3.

We have an away Friday night game in Round 5.

Therefore, I reckon that rumoured Friday Night Showdown is slotting in during Round 4, (Thursday game that round is already rumoured to be Syd v Mel so its taken), and should therefore be a Port home game. Would be massive.

So...
1- Melbourne @ MCG
2- Carlton @ Home
3- ? Away
4- Crows @ Home (Friday Night)
5- West Coast @ Perth
6- Anzac Round @ Home
10- Away
11- St Kilda @ China
12- Bye
23-@ Home

Reckon we’ll get a couple of Thursday’s/Friday’s after our Bye.

Round 6 is ANZAC Round so should be home.

Round 10 is Indigenous Round so should be away.

Another interesting tidbit looking at what has been 'leaked' so far is that Adelaide is in Darwin in Round 11, the same round we are in China. Meaning both SA teams get an away game that week. I wonder if they are planning on doing something weird like doubling up with two SA games in one weekend? That would be interesting (more likely they'll cover the 'missing' home games during the byes but still).

Yes but don't let that put you off, they are really knowledgeable, sportsmanlike and all round pleasant people to be around!

Based on the last West Coast home game I watched, if one of our players kinghits a teenager, we can expect him to be raucously cheered for the rest of the game! How polite.

Always going to happen. We struggle at Marvel and have won twice in Ballarat. The VFL having one Vic side beat another there is fine, but sold home games for Vic sides aren’t meant to have those ‘there reluctantly for the cash’ non-Vic blow ins actually winning games.

Yep. Even though the Bulldogs are only there for cash , part of the strategy is to pick up some extra fans which is difficult when you keep getting beaten.

So the conspiratory strategy from the AFL is to replace us with two teams widely tipped (arguably with most relish on this very board) to be stronger than us next year.

Makes sense.
