Initially my forwardline was going to be Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Telly, Fisher, Setters (Drew, Balta)

Now it is Danger, Telly, Worpel, Fisher, Drew, Parker (Setters, Nutting)

Quite a transformation. I downgraded Dunkley to Nutting before the end of round 1 and have used 2 trades - downgrading Heeney to Worpel and swapping Balta out for Parker. Going into round 1 I really thought i wouldn't be trading in my forwardline for a long time. Just goes to show how 2 rounds can change even the best made plans. Its also interesting how going into round 1 Mills was my D1 with Moore at D4 and now Moore is at D5 and i have both Lloyd and Whitfield (at the expense of Mills and Ridley). 3 trades down and i feel with the reshuffle that i've finally optimised my team structure.

Dahl was a full time midfielder for most of those 4 years where he averaged 90-100 though. I'm not saying he's a terrible pick, he's good value at his starting price, I'm questioning whether he can maintain his current tackle numbers and 1 goal per game in his current role as a defensive HF when history says he won't. Besides, If I were to have a 2nd Geelong fwd in my team it would be full-time midfielder Tim Kelly who you didn't mention at all in you shortlisted top fwd contenders for some reason even though you follow Geelong. There is oversight but he's clearly a top3 fwd prospect where as Dahl falls somewhere at the tail end of the log jam of 20-30 that you mentioned IMO. Or I could be completely off track and Dahl ends up a top 6 forward which would be a huge win for you and everyone else hitching a ride to his wagon.

No argument, Telly is a gun and better pick than Dollhouse for scoring potential and reliability. Issue is the 100k price premium.

He played a very similar role at the Doggies the 2 previous seasons and didn't come close to averaging a goal a game though. Also he's averaging 8.5 tackles after 2 rounds which is pretty much double his career average, can he maintain those tackle numbers? Because if that drops to 4-5 he's back to being an 80ish averaging half forward.
Spot on

In the first half of 2016 he had an inside mid role and was pushing out career best numbers and looked to be a top 2-3 SC forward, then he did his medial or something, missed 5-6 weeks and played more forward minutes for 5-6 weeks in the lead up to finals, then went back into the middle a few times during finals (I think the West Coast EF and the grand final he did). Pretty sure he's carried that knee issue since, but played through it, though his form dipped in the back half of 2017 and all throughout last year.

I only see him as 85ish, if he keeps his current numbers up he'd be a chance for a forward spot in the AA side, just can't see it being maintained

What to do with Jack Darling?

I feel Oscar Allen is impacting him and Darling is playing deeper because of Allen.

Ditch him now, or wait for a big score and go from there? Eagles' fixture isn't too bad over the next 6 weeks.

Very difficult to decide but he's averaging 101 in wins in Perth dating back to round 1 2018, and he's got Freo, Port, GC, Melbourne there in the next 6 weeks.

I think hold. Don't think Allen is impacting him that much - they looked for Darling a lot early and Howe was all over him. I doubt he'll get as solidly beaten as he was tonight most weeks.

But certainly looking like a pick that needs to be carried to F6 and then look at upgrading that position. Depends on your team position. I think he's closer to a B.Smith type who most teams will look to carry to D6 and then finalise the backline. Unfortunately Darling just is 160k extra.

But looking at nailing the rookies is going to be more important.

I also think the options to get an actual forward premium include Boak (who is averaging an unrealistic 130) and Kelly (ankle??).

Other than Danger and Heeney and those 2, who else is solidly a top 8 forward pick? Gray?

Still reckon there's big question marks over Hawkins, Menegola, Dahlhaus, Smith, Worpel, Gresham, McLean, Dunkley.

Just on Boak - he looks to be a top 8 premo but is averaging 130 the time to get him? Even at his absolute peak average for a season (106) he averages 102 from here (over 22 games). 100 season average he averages 95.9 from here. Yes there is the cost consideration too, and yes he may keep it up, but I wonder if letting the law of realistic averages take its toll for 3-4 weeks may make more sense.

I have Dunkley.

Would consider trading him to Boak next week if I see Libba and Wallis stealing all his points again like last week.

Wines seemed to have no impact on Boaks imput too.

Wines has no impact fullstop

I know what you mean re: the law of averages, but unsure what he's averaging really comes into play... What he costs is more the consideration. I think with Boak, it's either this week or after the byes (or never). I must admit it was one of the reasons I asked the question on Darling.

It's a fair comment, but personally I'd just be genuinely surprised if he manages to shoot past 540k by much. He's going to go up to approx 510k after round 3. But to continue the huge price increases he'd need to continue going at 120ish+. Maybe a big game against Richmond who don't tag will prove me wrong but I just believe he'll come back to the pack sooner rather than later and I can see his price peaking at round 5, and becoming more affordable around round 7-8.

I don't think he is a good enough footballer to continue the superpremo average. So when he comes back to a 96-105 average his price will remain steady/come back too.
Might get it badly wrong but I'm not prepared to call it at round 3.

can one you St Kilda supporting kents tell me about Rowan Marshall.
why didnt he play round 1. is he the legit no.1 ruckman? is his scoring sustainable?

Gresh_Magic Keg on legs etc...

i'm very ******* interested :moustache:
Because Richo is a bellend

& yeah he is a jet

As Gresh said, that sits with Richo

I can't see him (i hope) being dropped. He is showing amazing development as our 1st ruck and does a lot around the ground.

Will get monstered in the hit outs by the best but will hold his own around the ground.

Reckon we've found ourselves a good one.

Not a bad SC pick coz he loves a tackle too

Jack Martin coming good

Will consider later down the track
Hmmmm Jack.
The past 2 games he's gone into the midfield and contested numbers are up. His DE is still poor (yesterday 47% and 6 clangers, 3 FA, 1.3 and missed a few easy shots for him. Tonned up again though so the nerds like his game.
We have a really tough 6-7 week stretch ahead with trips to Perth (WCE) Adelaide twice, GwS and home games against Lions, Cats. He could be a massive POD or a disappointment like he has been for me every year in SC.

I reckon Jeremy Cameron will average 90+ this year. If I end up taking an extra forward "keeper", I'll grab him
Didn't end up taking him. GWS had a tough run early on paper as well. Reckon he's got the Coleman in the bag

If Westhoff drops under $400k I reckon I'll look to pick him up. Would be a decent F6 and ruck cover for the year.

Last season he only scored under 80 twice with a couple of 70s. Surely can't keep pumping out sub 50 scores like he has done the last couple of weeks

I'm praying for another 30-70 score this weekend

Move on, Oscar is currently our best in form fwd, is a gun.

Hinkley said on radio this morning that Westhoff will keep playing forward until Dixon is back and he 'doesn't know when that will be'. At this rate I'd expect a typical key forward scoring fluctuation for the whole season for Mr Hoff.
