GWS said they backed off his training because he wasn’t going to be fit in time...but a few little birdies say he’s basically told Giants he’s sitting out the rest of the season so when he lands at Hawks he’ll be healthy. Gone a bit paranoid over his doing a knee again.
Three ACLs later you could understand why but it could essily happen first game at the Hawks. Seems to be over cautious.

I hope he has the integrity then not to accept any payments from GWS for the time he chose to sit out.

Wasnt it with guys like mitchell and co, not premiership players
There was someone on here earlier this year that said Longmire had lost the playing group, which I actually do know for a fact to be 100% false - my source is impeccable.
Bravo Chris Scott

I had a great conversation with a Cats member at the game on Saturday and he was accepting of the whole finals scheduling thing but not happy. Made a very good point that if any other team in the comp had finished first, their final would be at their home ground - even GWS, the Cats are the only team in the league that won't get a home final.
Something very wrong with the system.

Their ground is too small and a shithole. Any news from your end on Paps. Not getting anything out of Bunyip.

I don’t think a coach who lost a playing group would last

You can lose one or two (by lose I mean just not get along really)

Longmire is many things but there’s no way he ever lost the group I agree

I think Chris Scott is right, people say he is a sook but people also want horse to bag umps etc

Why can’t geelong have a home final * crowd numbers

No nothing more on Paps, I'm starting to get a bit concerned about that. If we can't retain a player who actually has the Bloods running through his veins, how on earth can we compete against the Melbourne teams and the lure of playing the G 18 times a year in front of 50,000+ fans?

Hawks season being glorified as usual yet again.
Here's the facts.

-Since the threepeat, they have brought in some of the competition's top 5 ranked players. Mitchell, JOM, Scully, Wingard plus they still had some 8 to 10 premiership players in their lineup for most of the 2019 season.

-They have made finals (top 4) in two of those years since & gone out in straight sets & failed to win any of those 4 finals, all played on their home ground, the MCG. They've missed finals twice since the threepeat.

-Their crowd attendance averages have plummeted since their threepeat years from 45,000 averages to 35,000 for the 2019 season.

Just sayin'.............!

Wish we had issues since our threepeat

That's old news like our 2012 p'ship.
The fact is, their supporters & Vic media would have us believe all is running beautifully but the statistics would say once Burgoyne, Breust, Smith, etc are done, things will get interesting. Burgoyne is an out & out star that is giving this team plenty but when he's not there they are a different looking outfit.

Im not sure ive seen all the hype you speak of, but I dont follow Hawthorn like you seem too

We still had 8 premiership players (including buddy) on our list this year and finished below them though, so geez disappointing i guess?

Didnt it show once guys like Mcveigh jack smith grundy are done it would be a very different outfit?

the Cats are the only team in the league that won't get a home final.

That is not even true. The Bulldogs home ground is Docklands (before that the Western Oval as well as Princes Park) and they have never played a home ground final in their history. Even the Cats have had a home ground final down in Geelong.

The Dogs got forced to play the Crows on the MCG in 2015 while Docklands sat empty 2 years after the AFL made an exception for the Cats and got knocked over in the process. But hey its the Cats who get hard done by when the Bulldogs have never had a home ground final and the Cats have and the Cats got theirs under Chris Scott.

Interesting to note how poor their home game attendance is for an MCG team that boasts so many members.
Only 2,000 more that the poor Melbourne team.

Those aren't for 11 games at the MCG. Hawks had 4 home games in Tassie and a home game at Docklands, while the Demons had 2 homes in the NT. That effects the average for both clubs

Havent quite got an obvious place to post this (no father son thread so far as I can see and not a 2019 draft article.

but for those of you interested in this Leo Barry's son was playing a prelim final in under 14 on the weekend and the match was video'd and is available on the yarra junior football league facebook page.

Its also an interesting video to watch to give a sense of the standard of the top junior level club teams in Victoria before they really get too much into the development programs etc.
