No, what I’m saying is the team with the strongest belief and connection wins.

This isn’t a rule of football, or sport, but life...whoever controls the frame of reference between two or more parties controls the outcome. And that comes from belief and congruency of thought aka connection.

This is fine, but it only overcomes a moderate talent discrepancy and a very small tactical discrepancy.

It's also impossible for our team to achieve what you want them to achieve when the Chairman is so self interested and unwilling to foster an accountable environment.

Players win contests, teams win games and organisations win premierships. No dynasty has ever existed without strong leadership at the top of the club.

Assuming all are 100% fit, does anyone know how our coaches are going to effectively position Wines, Rockliff and SPP in the same team?

Janus is actually right about the belief/connection thing, it's absolutely an important component in being successful and winning a premiership.

He just neglects to mention that one of the main people responsible for fostering belief/connection is the leader aka the freaking coach aka old mate aka sack Hinkley.

Watts’ campaign in 2019 ended early after breaking his leg and dislocating his ankle in Round 2, but his pre-season break was cut short as he returned early alongside Gray.

“He’s feeling really good, really strong, he feels pretty much good to go," Gray told SEN SA Breakfast.

“It’ll be really good for him to get four months of a solid preseason under his belt."

Managing his knee, Gray told SEN SA Breakfast that he won’t undertake the entirety of the preseason, but will complete “a fair chunk”.

The AFL is moving to becoming the most homogeneous league in the world in terms of tactics and talent, due to the salary cap and how every team seems to ape the other. It’s all forward press, chaos/dirty ball, key forwards that help defend and key defenders who push up the ground.

The difference between the good teams and the poor teams is their ability to execute consistently. If we played football the way we did against West Coast this year every week, we wouldn’t lose a game. And if we had played that way against GWS and Richmond at home, we would have played finals.

What I want to know is why our players aren’t able to be consistent in performance every week? Distraction from what is important is probably the answer. Is that the responsibility of genuine leadership, and are they so thirsty for leadership that they will walk towards a mirage of success and then drink the sand when they find there is no water - like guys such as Polec, Wingard and Howard deciding they’d be better off elsewhere?

Or do these players who leave drink the sand because they don’t know the difference?

There’s no point arguing because now Janus will simply switch tracks and tell you that Richmond fans were wrong and therefore we need to support Hinkley. He’ll create an imaginary win however he wants, regardless of (constant) inconsistencies

Strong recommend to all that your new year’s resolution be to ignore Janus
So much this. Every week, month, year there’s a new blast of endorphins. It’s not worth keeping up.

That's how I see it. And the players are on to old mate too. I can seriously see us being bottom 4 this year. The players doubt themselves early and the cluster* begins in week 2-4 instead of week 6 -8
