God help me if someone from the West Indies top order ever becomes good at converting starts.

They showed a graphic last night of the last 10 centuries by West Indies batsmen - 5 of them belonged to career seven and eights in Dowrich and Holder, and a further 3 to Roston Chase batting at 6.

Looks like someone gifted Virat this for his birthday and if his facial expression is anything to go by, looks like he has already had enough of it after reading just the preface!:tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Ishant Sharma has had a funny career. Usually fast bowlers are guns when they're young and gradually become jaded as they head into the 30s. Ishant was s**t for the most part of his twenties and was a huge running joke in cricket even amongst the Indian fans.

But lately he has developed into a crafty bowler, especially with a big booming inswinger as his strength. He has been averaging 19 with the ball since the start of 2018, a figure that would be barely believable 4 years ago.

They showed a stat that India have been the best bowling attack last two years, in the past that would be rolling people on turning tracks but right now their fast bowling attack is top draw.

I remember when Ishant first debuted (around 2007/08) he looked like he could be India's best ever quick.

Unfortunately it hasn't turned out that way because for much of his career he bowled too short a length and in general lacked the pace and accuracy that he often displayed early doors. So basically he looked like an athlete who happened to bowl, rather than a bowler.

In recent times, he's bowled a fuller length and gotten more movement.

Bumrah absolute dirty with the new ball here.

Could have had a 4fer within the first 7 overs if Mr.Ego hadn't dropped a regulation slip catch.

Gee what a spell this is, he's proper unplayable now!

Windies are now 37/7 in their second innings reply. Bumrah incredibly has figures of 5/7 from 8 overs.

Bumrah now has a test 5fer in every country he has played in, all in his very first overseas cycle. He is yet to play at home.

Ishant has quietly become an elite pace bowler. His last 20 Tests (dating back to August 2016) - 23.31 average, 51.70 strike rate, 2.70 economy rate. Would play a lot more and bowl a lot more overs if India played in more pace-friendly conditions more often, too. Interestingly, this big uptick comes after he stopped getting selected in India's ODI side (last played an ODI in January 2016).

He has an average under 30 dating back to December 2012, too.

It will be hard to see India not playing in that Test Championship Final in 2021. They are almost unbeatable at home right now, and they are good enough to beat the lesser teams away most of the time. Surely they will pick up enough points to finish in the top 2.

Thank Christ the Stokes fiasco took some heat off this.

This game summed up where WI is at compared to the elite sides ATM. They have the tools to compete in one aspect - the ball. They have the tools to make inroads with another - the bat. They lack the fortitude to turn starts into big scores, and when the game appears out of reach, it’s generally a procession.

2-26 off 16 overs if you exclude Gabriel’s rather indifferent 3 over stint before he left the field

He’s up to 10 indifferent overs.

Bumrah just taking the piss now. That's 11/23 off his last two bowled innings.

For probably the first time in their history. They have had good fast bowlers before, Kapil obviously being a great, but possibly never a group at once. Its usually been one good one, one almost there, and middling to poor back-ups requiring a lot of spint o be used even in conditions not suited.

Kapil Dev, Roger Binny* and Madan Lal would have played together at some stage and been close to the best combination; a great, a good, and a not good enough all-rounder. Though I get the feeling I'm forgetting someone obvious for that third spot.

*yes, that is "Rubbish Binny" who was left out by the selectors
