The only official awards were won by Maxy. The others are bullshit sponsorship wank. Maxy won this 'award' in the 1st match.

They gave Short an award for player of the match.

HOW IS JANA BANKABLE PLAYER DIFFERENT FROM THE MAN OF THE MATCH?
So, who decides that? The Jana Bankable Award is a people’s choice award. Your votes and the commentator’s analysis, together decides the Jana Bankable Player for every match.

A Man of the Match or the Man of the Series mostly carries the fortunes of the game on his shoulders thus creating an impact on the proceedings of the game. The Jana Bankable Player celebrates that dependable player on whom the team can bank upon anytime. He is a consistent performer and when the team needs him the most, he time and again, delivers.

Fair points but with Warner coming back where does that leave Stoinis? They aren’t dropping Short.

As for Smith I’m not sure personally in 20/20 just feel there are better and more aggressive options.

Short seems like he’s one big innings away from taking over. Getting a lot of 30+ scores. Hoping he gets one big score and the confidence takes him from there. Wish they had have given him the same run in ODIs while Warner was away.

Smith averages 37 in the IPL with a SR of just over 130. Warner, Smith, Maxwell, Starc and Zampa are the five I have ahead of the pack at the moment and I’d be building the side around that.

With Stoinis, I’m not sure. If he’s bowling gets to a level where he has to be picked I guess you could make do with him at 5/6/7 but if he’s only in as a batsman I’d have him reserve to at least Warner, Short and Smith. Add Finch if he gets back to the level we expect from him.

I find it really hard to pick an 11 that makes sense though. We’ve got a lot of bowlers who I really rate early in the innings but no real death bowlers. We’ve got a lot of batsman who are more suited batting top 3 rather than lower. The only players I can think of who had good BBL’s down the order were Bailey, Turner and Christian. Even Turner moved up the order as the season moved on. It’s hard to specialise positions when everyone bats top 3 for their BBL teams.

Again more proof that Maxwell should be facing as many ball as possible in international cricket and not batting 7 in ODIs

Horrible selections in the Australia series.

serious question... how much worth are you guys putting in the performances of these few t20 for the WC. Or just waiting for the ODI series

It's a good pressure test. It's not easy to perform when thousands of Indians are screaming and jeering at you.

Although the Indians did experiment a little with their team they take this form cricket very seriously on their home turf.

Finch probably has only 2 or 3 chances left to keep his spot in the ODI's.

Smarsh available for the 3rd game I think.
Be hard to drop Short for Finch.

TBF, if he wasn't captain, he probably wouldn't get a game.

Short is only in the squad as cover for Marsh and his ODI record isn’t superb

At what point does Stoinis get the chop from T20I team? Averaging 15 with a high score of just 33...

Turner is a perfect no 6 - yes he batted slightly higher in the BBL as the tournament rolled on, but that was based on needs as the scorchers stink. He was super batting with the tail at the death earlier in the series, and last season

Just open with Maxwell. Give him as many overs as humanly possible. Build the line-up around him.
Finch has had success at 5 before in the IPL so I wouldn’t have been surprised if they were thinking of putting him lower today.
Finch was good for Australia at 5 as well in that T20 triangular with England and NZ we played at the start of last year.

Stoinis’ bowling is valuable in ODI cricket but I don’t think it’s needed for T20I’s. Well it certainly shouldn’t be the reason he holds his spot.

Don’t think he’s in the best side once the sandpaper duo come back. Certainly can’t drop someone like D’arcy Short for him and would prefer someone who doesn’t chew up balls like Turner down the order.

Hasnt happened for probably 5 years. Even then it has been twice in total.

Eddie calling Collingwood games. Another Eddie myth.
Last time it happened was collingwood v melbourne 2015. As much as I dislike collingwood, I think people take the eddie mcguire thing too far. JB comments north games on 7 almost ten times a year and plus does reneagades games during the BBL. And yet no one seems to take any attention to that.

As well as we played, I think the team which wins t20Is is mainly the one that bats last. If India bowled first, I thing they would of easily been able to chase down any total without a hassle.

I don't thinks it even been used in this series? Neither has Maxwell I don't think? So plenty of other options for them to use.

But if they are playing a bowler at no7, the top 6 need to be all capable of big scores and Stoinis just isn't capable of doing the job nor is his bowling good enough to take that no7 spot.
