They can certainly win again but they are aren't going to steamroll us at home not when they won a tight series last year with Smith and Warner missing.

The chance to win 3 or 4 zip was last year with our best batsmen missing.

I feel like their rate of improvement and cohesion as a unit since then (and forseeable over the next 12-18 months) is greater than ours, though. They'll probably be at the absolute peak of their powers as a group by the time they come out here next summer.

The Rabada/De Kock thing yesterday was probably nothing but I hope there's no rift there. Those two are the best and probably only world class players left in that team (Vern and Faf won't play on much longer) and they need to carry SA forward for the next 10 years or so.

De Kock really needs to consider giving up the gloves in Tests after this and bat at 5. Don't think I've seen South Africa batting in a weaker state with Bavuma no longer being able to hide and De Bruyn not looking Test quality. Markram also being found out a bit as well.

de Bruyn is an interesting one, looks to have a nice technique and patience but doesn't seem to go on beyond solid starts.
Good fight by the lower order which is at least something, but does show that the top order failed on a decent batting wicket.

What sort of captain that is in the team as a batsman puts himself at 6?

As was mentioned in the commentary yesterday, in comparison to Pakistan under Misbah's captaincy, he'd put himself at #6 to do a rescue job and shore things up after a top order collapse. However, that doesn't exactly instill confidence in your top order, and the collapse might not happen if you bat at #4 like you should!

Sa have lost 6 of their last 7 in India, considering they had only 4 losses over there before that it's a big fall from grace.

Also twenty years since they won a series in India, really for all the talk about their ability in those conditions it gets lost that none of the golden generation like ab amla steyn Philander smith ect actually won a test series in India, kallis was the only one from that great side to play in a series win over there.

This reminds me of our tours to India in the 1990s they grind us down make huge scores then we lose our minds when its our turn with the bat.

Reminding me of the second last series Australia played over there.

India batting first for a day and a half than Australia go out to bat and suddenly the pitch was doing everything.

Poor faf sent bavuma out for the coin toss but still lost, eight in a row lost in Asia ouch.

Apparently five changes for sa, haven't been following it I know maharaj injured his shoulder, interesting De utensil is playing as a specialist opener and vern dropped for ngidi.

Sa bowling very well, interesting Smith really giving it to faf saying it was pathetic that faf sent bavuma out for the toss and that it shows how bad the mindset of the side is that they are acting like the toss decides the result figured Smith and faf were mates but Smith sounded pretty pissed off.

Van der Dussen couldn't force his way in. Instead they bring in Heinrich Klassen, a keeper who averages 22 in ODIs.

Klaasen also averages 44.40 with the bat in FC cricket, and frees up de Kock to play solely as a batsman. I called for this move before the 2nd Test.

Klaasen could be their keeper for the next 5 years (he's still just 28 years old), allowing de Kock (whose glovework is passable at best, and really just a distraction from his batting) to either open or bat at #3 in all formats, as he should.
