2nds 2019 Lions Reserves and NEAFL thread

Huge win by the neafl squad and the seniors get embarrassed at the G and not one player is rewarded with promotion for this weeks game. And a 5 day break too. First howler from our match committee this season. Big HOWLER.

Because playing a team half full of amateurs is comparable to playing one of the stronger sides in the AFL?

Midseason draft rules:
  • Players who have committed to another year with a Northern or Next Generation Academy are ineligible
(from https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-04...les-clubs-allowed-to-test-up-to-three-players)
That is my contention, that rule needs to be removed. I feel that it should not affect their mid season availability to be drafted simply because they have committed to another year with an academy. Once an academy has passed drafting them during their draft year, why should they then restrict the players earning potential for another twelve months. Effectively the player should be able to seek another employer.

Excited to see the boys play today. Hoping Hinge and C Lyons put their hands up for a debut. Also hope to see Answerth, Joyce, T Berry and E Smith find the footy. Will be good to get a look at Fullarton, Skinner and Wooller as well.

A rare opportunity for the Senior Coach to get to see our NEAFL team in action which is important in terms of assessing changes for next week.

You’d also think he may even have a fair bit of input to. Not necessarily as a match day coach, but after last night’s debacle, he may want certain players played in certain positions to see how they go with a view to assessing their competence or ability to play a different role potentially in the seniors.

Good point. Very big day for people like squizzy and Cuts I feel, they have a real chance to show how they can work on their deficiencies (defensive pressure for both) and earn a spot in the team. Others like Corey Lyons have a midfield spot up for grabs and the draftees will probably get a look in too.
