Joyce moves very nicely... Boy oh Boy wowed!

It'll be interesting to see how he goes because he's always going to be on the smaller side as a midfielder. Hopefully he's learning heaps from Neale and Zorko about how to work his way through traffic

How’s this sort of recruiting beneficial culturally for our club? Clogging up our list with failed rookies from other clubs at the expense of drafting on talent. There was a reason why bids were not matched on these players and being delisted provides an element of vindication for our recruiters.
Talent should be the primary measure for being on our list, not being an ex academy guy.

We would know more about them compared to an untried 18 year old rookie. Wylie has shown signs and Declan has been cut down with injury, both however have been in a full time AFL environment throughout this period. They would be coming off a better base and system that we can build on top, if the club feels they are good enough.

Academy players getting second chances through our system will be good for the game at QLD grass roots level in my view. I am not advocating blind recruiting of ex-academy, but if they are good enough they should get the chance over an 18 yo.

Ely Smith- Couple of his disposals under no pressure have been ordinary.
Matty Eagles- Love the way he goes about the game, would not let us down at AFL level.
Archie Smith- Going well along with 2 goals.
James Madden- Looks good overhead to go with his pace.

Jye Caldwell- The Giants are stocked to the brim with midfielders and they have another academy mid coming in this years draft who is a top 5 prospect. Maybe Caldwell would be open to a move to us for more opportunities.

Matho, Lewy, Bastinac, Hinge, Cox, Payne look well above NEAFL level.

Nice summary. Loved Cox's kicking in particular.

I know we would love to recruit another A grade mid, but there is a bit to like about Smith, Joyce and TBerry. Add the possibility of Wooller and McFayden developing into decent players and it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest there is an A grade player there somewhere.

On Ely Smith, is there a reason he hasn’t re-signed, noting he is the only one of our recent draftees not to have extended? Are there go home issues (wasn’t he in the GWS academy or have some tie to them) or has he not settled in or perhaps the club hasn’t rated him enough to warrant sticking a contract extension in front of him?

I’ve watched all NEAFL games this year and for mine is the least impressive of the lot and furtherest from earning a debut.

What about that class handball from Coleman, through traffic and out in front at pace.

If Keidean isn't bid on in the first round this draft there must be some bloody good players on offer.

Caldwell, would love Caldwell.
