Also I think we have delisted players before at lodgement 2 (Gault?)

Newnes was just signed as a DFA by Carlton despite having a contract from St Kilda in front of him.

You can authorise someone to sign any legal contract for you. You can also sign and email these days.

On a quick look at his CV we have the 2017 rising star winner, 62 goals in his first 40 games and relatively strong disposal numbers for his position. He's probably worth 35 - 40 goals for us next year and may have a more expanded role on the HFF. Obviously a hugely important player for our structure up forward and could become more important if Elliott decides to leave.

Next deal is likely to be 3 years, north of 600K you'd assume.

No way it's above 500k. Stevo lots of promise but no need to over pay him before he truly earns his stripes. Still got a lot of improvement in him before he can ask for similar coin as Taylor Adams and Adam Treloar.

Who is this alternate Cat B? If there isn't 1 available then why not retain Madgen? He won't be keeping anyone out of a spot.

If finding potential Cat B rookies was as easy as you suggest we'd have had a full quota every year since the inception of the program, but that's just not the case. If there's a better option available then I'd be happy for Madgen to be moved on but it's not something I'd entertain on the off chance we might unearth 1. I'd assume they look far and wide for prospects yet we've had years where we haven't had any or been lucky to have had 1 or occasionally 2.

Go back to Ireland or USA (drop the 2m+ height requirement) and find real elite athletes (drop the USA heightist AFL/role nonsense they can only be 2m ruck options or super tall flawed fwds) and get genuine 6'3 to 6'6 sized athletic freak that would make Franklin look like Madgen.


If you can learn ruck and FF then you can learn all parts of this game it is a flawed concept that mature cat b recruits are positionally incapable especially when it's never been tested as ALL USA recruits have been uber talls.

Imagine a 6'4 10sec 100m ex basket baller on the list not only is he lightning quick he'd also be vastly more agile then all previous USA rookies.
It's mind blowingly narrow minded and short sighted to do this only ruck height shit.
