I agree with most of those players.
Something I found odd was Newman being out of contract this year. It is unusual for a player to change clubs on a one year contract.
Not really a hard thing to nut out. Kerr is the one that must surely be included on the list of possible delists. Can't see him getting a game anywhere else either. Lang stays dependent on what we can get in.

Key Forwards are hard to fill and although we have an embarrassment of riches...I think Kerr would slot in easily as the 3rd or even 2nd option at multiple clubs.

Melbourne for example.

The options seem to be re-contract/delist/retire

I'd say sign-and-trade for Kerr

What I find hard to nut out is that Newman was only given a one year contract, which is what I was talking about.

True. I suppose its all part of the strategy mapped out for the years ahead.
I wouldn't have thought a player of his calibre is on a one year trial. But then we could have said the same about Fasolo a couple of years back.
Strange times indeed.

Gives him an opportunity to renegotiate salary I suppose.

Assuming he was earning peanuts at Sydney, and we only traded a fourth rounder for him, I can't imagine we were offering much more money than Sydney. He may have backed himself in to have a strong first year and then negotiate a better deal for the following few years.

No idea on his contract status, but Shumachers game today ranks as one of the worst debut games ive ever seen. Staggered if he is sighted again this season, and even more staggered if he is anywhere near an AFL list next year

idk, Kade Simpson had 0 possession in his first game was probably worse that Shumachers. Look at where he is now, 300 + gamer and heart and soul of the club.

Don't write players off 1 game.

Article on Cogs:

Carlton has poached plenty of Giants, but they could land the biggest one yet
Carlton has recruited 11 players from Greater Western Sydney, but they may be about to add the best player to depart the AFL’s newest franchise.

The Blues are reportedly leading the chase to secure the services of Stephen Coniglio — the most sought after free agent in this year’s pool.

Struggling to see the relevance. I’m not looking at stats. I’m looking at how I viewed him on the ground. Anyway all will be revealed in a few weeks

Also wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire at VFL level either. Can’t see him on our list next season.

Amused by some Hawk fans not realising that the choice by more recent list management to neglect re-generation strongly through the draft will hurt as time goes on. The way they originally got to a strong list last decade was from previous list management mostly building through the draft for the core group.

Last night will fool some of them, they will be alright...

I have little interest in Wines.
Don't see how he'd necessarily make us a better team next year, let alone the years following.
I just don't think he's the type we need, let alone factoring in the cost.
ECurnow & Murphy can support the young mids as required and after that, the training wheels are off.

A couple of months on and nothing has changed and should the scenario discussed earlier be manufactured, we'd be off and running.
The Conglio/Papley netting would be brilliant for The Blues. Missing on one is O.K. but missing on both, would make for a disappointment.
Martin is OK for a second round should we manufacture something 'unexpected' via our 2020 1st, we can grade ourselves with an A+

Martin is a tricky one.
You would imagine the Adelaide pick would be needed in Papley/Cameron negotiations.
We don’t hold a second rounder this year.
Without trading a player, that leaves our future picks.
Doubt a future 2nd is enough to land Martin.
Our future 1st for Martin + a 2nd rounder coming back ?
I dunno ... but Silvagni will ...

Here's what I playing out -

Our first for Papley which now could be a #10 and a third, for Sydneys second.
That second, approx #22 may be close for Martin.

The 2020 first has to be earmarked for an 'unbelievable' outcome and not for Matin in any shape or form.

EDIT: I'd actually sooner Papley than Coniglio

Like it and agree involving our future 1st for Martin doesn’t sit comfortably.
Just not sure GC would come at that pick for Martin though after it has been pushed out a few places.

Really don’t see us having to make a choice between Papley and Coniglio as long as “the books” are ticked off.
What an outcome both would be for Carlton.

In : Coniglio Papley Stocker Cameron
Out : 2019 ~ pick 4

They may not like it but should Martin call out our name, they may have to accept it.....providing we do have it.

I agree that Martin is worth more but maybe not too much more and there is no way I'd want our 2020 slip out the door for him, even though we may not ultimately be using that pick come the following year.

I can see SOS dangling the 2020 first, but now thinking that it may be a hard to get the right player with it as next years picks are discounted, given the 12 month wait to utilise them.

The nomination does count for something and Martin is ooc.
We haven’t really got much in the way of sweeteners either.
Would GC be interested in our future 2nd and say Kerr ?
