Looking at our OOC senior list, possibilities:

Pickett - gone
Simmo - retire
Lang - delisted
Garlett - delisted
Lobbe - delisted
Kerr - delisted/traded

Polson very lucky he has a contract until 2020...otherwise surely would be delisted.

So that would be 6.

Upgrade Gibbons
Draft 2 players
Bring in 3 mature aged players
Add Fasolo and Deluca to the list

Are we really going to delist someone like Kerr? A KPP we have put 3 years in to develop and has shown some promising signs? Would hope we stick with him for another year at least.
Hes AFL quality, just that we are stacked at the position.

Hes 5th in line at best. Mors likely 6th.

Deserves to get a shot at somewhere like Dogs, even if we trade him for penauts

may be behind others for now, naturally - he’s a developing KPP taken late and only in his 3rd year!

If we start getting rid of players like that we start thinning out the foundations of our depth. Keep for mine.

I think it would depend, Polson for example would definitely not be on that but I know that is not the point. I think a player like that who is very frings is just happy to sure up their future a bit rather than be worrying about tax etc. Give the player the option of being delisted or signed to a 1 year contract or signing a two year contract and pay a bit of tax then a player like Polson would take the two year contract. I don't think player and manager would have anything over the club when negotiating a contract in this instance as it would be more about survival at this stage for him being a very fringe player. Player is going to pay the tax and try and use those two years to improve enough to stay in the AFL system and get a decent contract.

Front Loaded or not I don't think someone like Poloson is going over that 90-180K bracket too often. If the club goes full front loaded then he only goes over the bracket one of those years.

Polson, is probably on 100-120K. Gets paid 180K last year and 20-60K this year which we can probably cover if we wanted to write it off. I imagine we're doing a lot to make up our minimum TPP and this would not bother our cap paying an extra 20-60K.

I don't think we're going to have much trouble with this contract and it wouldn't surprise me if others are shifted around a bit.
Might be wrong, but I believe actors, musicians and sportspeople can apply an income averaging methodology over a rolling 4 year period to mitigate this risk associated with lumpy payments.

Real pity lebois hasn’t shown much other than potential. He’s had enough time to develop to at least make a debut in the seniors. There is something about him though.
I was thinking last week when had a little peak at VFL for about 40 minutes or so and I looked at LeBois and thought, finally he looks like his body is right to go and over any injuries to give himself a chance to play some really good VFL footy in last 4 weeks and possibly show what he can do. Then I read yesterday club injury list and has done a hamstring.... that maybe it. Although I would not be against it if they did allow him to be de-listed and re-rookied to give him one more season to see if can get his body right and show what he can do as a goal sneak. Nothing really to lose on that unless we find another late draft goal sneak type to take ahead of him.He is still young and may get his shit together when he 22 or so. Hate to see he do that and another club benefit next decade.

Yes.

Behind McKay/Curnow/Cas/McGovern and probably even TDK next year. We also have medium marking targets in JSOS & Kennedy.

He wasn't even getting a game when 2 of the above first 4 were out injured, which shows how far back he is.

There's nothing about him.

Lebois hasn't even showed potential. He's not even VFL level.

Everyone hopes every carlton player will turn into something but he has proven to not be anywhere near a level to stay on the list.

I think SOS needs to get creative with GWS they have 2 first round draft picks and possible a 3rd if Coniglio leaves and they have an Academy player Tom Green who is at least a top 10 pick. If GWS look what Sydney did last year Nick Blakely. We will need some 2nd round picks, So we need to look at players we can trade out for me that's some of our talls Casboult, Kerr, Macreadie and one of Marchbank or Plowman. Also possible swap future first round pick. We can also live trade 1 or 2 of the first round picks back to GWS after they have drafted Green.

Not 100% sold we would even need to trade with Giants.

IF, we offer Coniglio a front ended loaded contract that SOS calculates that Giants almost certainly cannot afford to keep under salary cap and Coniglio decides he is willing to move if Giants cannot match to keep him, then no trade happens......We just get him...
I still not get my hopes up until I actually heard he is 100% coming but it is one scenario that very possibly could play out if we really super shrewd.

DeLuca tackles to hurt, I love it. Him and Sloane went out of bounds a few weeks ago and DeLuca made a point of going over and putting a bump through him. We have lacked that sort of aggression for a long time.

As a side note, Tom Nicholls is a free agent? What the hell happened to him? He was good when he started.

What's the purpose of any of that?

So the theory is:

We trade GWS our future first for Picks 10 and 14.
On draft night, Green gets bid on at Pick 5, GWS match with Pick 15 and a third rounder.
Then we trade them back Pick 10 for our future first.

GWS get Green and Pick 10 instead of Green, pick 15 and a third rounder
We're up Pick 14 for helping them out.

Specific pieces can change a bit (ie. could be a future pick that we get instead of Pick 14), but it should pass the AFL checks and balances on draft night as GWS can easily claim that they want to overpay to get Pick 10 back due to a specific player being available. "We were happy to trade into the 2020 draft given we knew Green would attract a bid before our first picks, and Carlton were keen to do a deal. But when we saw Player X was still on the board at Pick 10 we just knew we had to get him on our list." AFL gives the tick of approval because live trades are exciting anyway and all that jazz.

This post is exciting all of my senses
