He is 32 and injury prone, I think this is unlikely

I Hope he can be effective as a small forward or wing

by 2020 he should be the 8th or 9th in line for the a spot in the square, this is great for the club
I respectfully disagree, K. He's been forced to take on more than he should have his entire career more or less, but we've finally got some depth to free him up. He's been pretty durable and escaped too many big injuries so I reckon he could easily be in our top 3.

Depends on his attitude and preparation for mine.

To me Walsh will be close to a certain starter and the guy that may have to worry about that may be Petrevski-Seton.
On talent alone, Petrevski-Seton shouldn't have to worry but on output, he may.

We'll juggle things around until we get ourselves a workable balance, but I can't see all of our young mids, being on the field at any one given time.
Cripps, Dow, Fisher and Walsh (yes Walsh) are pretty close to locks for mine. Setterfield next cab off the rank, Kennedy and SPS just a little further behind and then last would likely be Stocker.

I can't see next year being as much as a development* year as I see it being a results year.
* By development, I mean; Let's play him just to give him a feel and get some games into him.
Agree. Last year a few players got games on the basis of development rather than the quality/output they produced.

With inclusion of experienced players like McGovern, Fasolo, Newman, return of Docherty and Willo, and draftees like Walsh the criteria for games will thankfully shift to output. SPS and others will need to produce more.

Marc Murphy begins to have some on field support at last, he's one of our better footballer and some of the criticism of his game day performances are ridiculous.
No way will Murphy be edged out to the Northern team for 2019 or 2020.

This is just what we do at times.
The kid who hasn't even touched a ball yet, is somehow already better than a quality, seasoned veteran.
Murphy isn't flawless, but neither are 18 year old draftees, as we'll all find out all too soon.

Murphy, ECurnow and Thomas will still be preferred over most 18 year olds, regardless of how could those young men may actually become.

I guess he will be free of a tag and able to play mainly outside.

I was suspect on his defensive running and tackling last year... Still good offensively

IMHO of the new additions, McGovern, Fasolo, Newman, Bugg, Walsh, and Stocker or Setterfield too if they're ready to go Rd 1 2019.
We must start our new campaign with a positive impact.

I did say that if it all clicks, he will be a handy player, not being a natural footballer isn’t a slight on him, one could argue that Fyfe is more athlete then footballer, he’s still a gun.
Not sure what you define as a natural footballer but both Cuningham and Fyfe are definitely natural footballers in my eyes.

But still managed to average 4 tackles a game in 2018 after 3.9 in 2017.

Very impressive given the state of his body. They are mostly the result of clutching on for dear life in congestion, though.

I'd prefer that his tackle numbers dropped to 2-3 per game, which would signify a change in role to an outside one.

I think Ed Curnow is ahead of Kennedy and SPS and until he proves himself, Setterfield too.

If we could only fuse Murph together with Garlett's tackling intensity and Andy Carrazzo's work-rate... we might just have the player we crave.
Murphy has all those things. It's why he took out the AFLCA award for best player. Intensity is there, being physically capable is another story, oh and questioning his work rate is ludicrous. The guy proved that last year, with an annoying lingering foot injury was still running and covering more ground than most of the team. One of the reasons Murph became captain were his training habits and effort. The club thought he'd be a good lead by example kind of guy. Without going into a debate on his leadership skills, those points remain valid. He is meticulous in his preparations, and gut runs like few others.

Fair call, that. Was less of a dig at Murph in that way, rather than saying he just needs to improve his tackling efforts. But I agree - he'll be very good for us next year.
