Walsh and Setters will line up Round 1 v Tiges. Bank it.

They'll both be in my Consensus 22 votes, that's for sure.

I'll be interested to see what Russell does with Setterfield and his recovery. He held O'Meara back and didn't let Burgoyne play until he was 100% when he came over from Port. He has made it clear to the players what needs to happen to be ready to play

Top 3 runner in the team, he works both ways but just cannot physically tackle. Still valuable.
I agree with defending him but he’s an average ‘runner’. He’s ‘evasive’. He has a quick burst.

But as far as runners go he would be behind a LOT. His (and Gibba) lack of gut running ability stopped him from being a champ.

In any kind of endurance test he would be well behind: Simmo, CC, Eddie C, Docherty, Walsh, LOB and probably a few others.

Fair bit of conversation re Pickett and Cunners. Would love to see them play between the arcs and never get too deep either end. The tip of the spear going forward and pressure coming out. Great mix for their skill set.

You don’t have to buy it - but I’m telling you there were clubs that rated him in the 20’s - and I know for a fact that one club had him at 15.
Well all that matters is what he produces. Which will be sweet FA I bet.

But let’s see.

Up to the club with the appraisal of 15 to pick up the phone during trade period. McGovern was done with a week left on the clock, suggesting not much interest from other parties for the Mcadam pick.

Who? Murphy?

You couldn't have this more arse about if so.

Hawthorn didn't have anything like pick 15 to give. We would have shopped that pick around to everyone and if we would've been able to get anything like pick 15 we would have taken it.

Personally, I really think Murph will flourish without the Captaincy pressure. If he can get himself cherry ripe for 2019, he could get back to his AA best and be in our top 3 players.
Thats it. Would love to see him get an injury free run at it next year.

Can’t argue the talent and potential on our list. No more excuses from now on in. Must get wins and start our crawl up the ladder and eventually to 17.

17th on the ladder?!?!?!?!

:straining:

Haven’t heard the Polson name for many pages. Forgotten man or has he been superseded by the latest additions. ?

Definitely in our bottom 6 players unfortunately, I'd take Walsh, Stocker, Newman, Fasolo, McGovern and Setterfield over him so the newcomers have gone past already i'd say.

Just like Murph, I'm hoping we have a little less reliance on Ed next season in the engine room (in terms of ball winning, clearances, etc).

If alongside Cripps, the likes of Kennedy, Dow, Setterfield (Samo, Fish, Stocker, LOB, etc) can do enough of the heavy lifting then Ed can focus on being a shutdown player and running some poor bastard off his feet (while still collecting his own 25 odd).

While Ed has played some great games as a ball-winning mid in his own right, I think the best for the team will be him tagging the bajeebus out of an opposition a-grade midfielder.

Similarly Murph should be able to spend less time at the coalface getting smashed and more time with a little space when he can do more damage with his disposal.

Going to be very interesting watching over preseason, JLT and up to round 1, trying to scope how the 'best 22' is shaping up. Could be something crazy like 12 changes from our rd23 team.
Yes thats it.....Ed can lock it down and collect his usual 25 --> often 30 lately for Ed and Crippa 30 plus.....
Bolton pay day quote...reward for effort
If we see Kennedy step it up to 25 a game plus clearance work he will take it and i think he would train for that this yr.
I think Fisher can put up 25 a game pretty much.....plus Samo usually matches him usually less time at mids and still gets it.
If Walsh can get 25 a game he is it ....and possibly he could
O Brein pretty much matches Dows stats on 2018 ...and Stocker my welcome some time in Vfl to improve his tank for 4 quarters
Setterfield is the unknown......may be limited early 2019 and looking at 2020 for proper work up with preseason
Possible he can help out early and still be effective .....good hands, clearance, dont see him dishing out 4 quarters on intense ball early tho?

Exactly, SOS would have let all clubs know those mature aged players where up for trade and if rated at 15-20 that is around the pick we would have got.
