Lynch is in line to benefit from the AFLs changes to free agency that kicks in at the end of this season. Max Lynch at the end of this season becomes a delisted free agent, along with any player who has ever been delisted and re-signed.

Some notable names mentioned in the article explaining the changes are former Blue Mitch Robinson and Geelong player Sam Menegola.
Has Lynch been delisted before though? Surely rookies don't just become free agents at the end of their first contracts?

Pickett fit and reaching his potential makes a big difference

Players I hope we get/chase are Ed Langdon, Menegola, Papley, Martin or Ainsworth. Atley or Drew from Port. Gallucci at Crows. Ned McHenry would be perfect if we could get him. Lewis Taylor may be able to be got cheap

Jeremy Goddard from Claremont I would look as a Ruck. I am also a fan of Sam Fisher & Mason Blakey

Still get a few draftees but IMO it's time to add some ready to go players
The way the Aints are tracking at the moment, you'd think that Billings may now be keen to sign on...although there's a lot of water under the bridge between now and the end of the year...and who knows what unofficial 'agreements' have already been forged between clubs and players' managers.

I still think the one who would be gettable would be Jack Martin....would be at the * now if they hadn't jagged Shiel, so shows he's potentially on the move. GCS now have Rankine so they may be fairly open to a trade, given he's out of contract the end of the year anyway.

Something weird happening with Lewis Taylor though...you'd have to go through a complete character check before you'd take him on regardless of the price.

i actually think i might have confused him with another player.

Any player who has been delisted becomes a free agent when their contract expires, i just read an article which stated it has added 46 extra players to the free agency pool, but i don't think Lynch is one.

Sorry about that.

How many left footers have we got now? Including SPS who is ambidextrous.

That's straight from the Hawthorn playbook by Bolts. They were littered with left footers through their glory years.
Was surprised at how good Gibbons was on his left...another dual-sided player in our midfield is nice.

I'm a big fan on Pickett he possess traits that certainly could break a game open with speed and Xfactor provided his injury doesn't give him any ongoing trouble, I'm very confident Russell can build him up for the back half of the season, if he can get his s**t together he can tear it up down forward with Harry Charlie Mitch Cunners🤤
Gets 1 more year for mine.

If by the end of 2020 he still hasn't got his shit together and isn't playing regular games to a decent games, probably time to cut.

No stress, was v confused for a moment there. Hoping we can get in his ear and bring him across, Grundy would be casting a big shadow over his prospects right now (although interestingly, Grundy will be a hugely sought after free agent so an opportunity may yet open up for Lynch if he's patient).

not the player for a struggling team - he will be back in contention when we are much stronger - may happen...........

Shai Bolton dropped again for Riewoldt.
Castagna keeps his spot (lol), Baker retains his (had a good game). Higgins and Rioli are locks.

Surely he sees the writing on the wall? Wouldn't cost much, is out of contract and his upside is much higher than Polson's.

When we think small forwards, most of us would see an Eddie Betts or Charlie Cameron type and that's fair enough.
Someone like that would be perfect, but those players that can manufacture goals seemingly out of nothing aren't easy to find.

I don't care so much for their height nor for the perfect 'type' right now, but they do have to be able to put fear into an opponent and they have to know where the goals are and be able to kick them from 50 out. * Having to tackle or apply pressure is a pre-requisite for every player.
They also have to an innate understanding of the forward craft. i.e. They have to be a forward.

Turning mids (and be that multiple mids) into small forwards is a short-term game.
Also good if they had a leap on them...all the best small forwards do.
Makes them dangerous on the ground AND in the air...hard to stop.

Arguably small forward has historically been a position that you can find quite easily...or at least can find later in the draft and not always at the very pointy end.

I've also noticed a lot of small forwards able to have an impact straight away...whereas you don't see that with KPP's that often for example.

Gryan Miers pick 57.
Liam Ryan pick 26.
Walla rookie draft.
Fantasia pick 55.
Charlie Cameron rookie draft.
Walters pick 53.
Dan Butler pick 67.
Puopolo pick 66.
Luke Breust rookie draft.

Ryan came in and immediately had an impact for WC in a premiership year.
The others didn't take long either which is why SOS has left this position till last to fill...he knows it's one where a player is more likely to have an immediate impact.

Agree, we should target Bolton. At same time support Pickett who has more upside than both of those mentioned.

A bit left field, but what about Billy Hartung?
24, Quick, great endurance (holds AFL beep test record of 16.6), good on both sides, loves a goal (once kicked 20 goals straight in a game (albeit U/14, but still a fair achievement)).
Played 63 games over 4 seasons at Hawthorn. (20,18,18 in last 3 seasons)
Was really stiff to get cut by North. Played the first 13 games last year then got injured, couldn’t get back in (Trent Dumont took position), got cut because he was uncontracted and they needed to cut another player to comply with delisting quota.

I know he’s not fashionable, but he played a ton of senior footy really for a nobody, and for a very strong Hawthorn outfit. He averaged 18 disposals a game over his career (over 20 for 2 of those years at Hawthorn). The numbers just don’t add up. Worth half a season of trial to see if he can carve a spot as a small forward?

No thanks.

Might be a good runner but that’s about where it ended for him.

Cut by 2 AFL clubs already.

Talk of a disruptive family member.

There are red flags all over him.

Fair call J, had to be something, coz his footy numbers are d3cent and what you expect of a Best 22 player. Back to combing the net for a new small forward. We could do with one.

Would have to be something seriously wrong to just cut that much talent in one area that we are really lacking

Probably been done....

Delistings are already looking SO much harder this year. No way these guys go:

Jack, Dow, Murph, LOB, SPS, Kennedy, Kreuzer, Crippa, McKay, mcg, TDK, Stocker, Jones, Doc, Walsh Schumaker, Plow, Marchy Weiters Newman Fish, Macreadie, Cunners, Polson, Cunners, Willo Phillips Ed BSOS Finbar, Thomas, Setters Owies

Maybes:
Simmo Lang Garlett Lobbe Faz Pickett Kerr Casboult Goddard Cottrell Lebois

Like only 11 maybes. If Simmo’s body is ok he goes on. I’m probably only certain Lobbe goes, which is amazing. Be surprised if Lebois still there. The rest it’s kind of up to them, some may get re-rookied. Some may continue to flat out surprise and stay on. The competition for list spots has never been better.
