This is the best 22 team that SOS has put together for our long term success...
Docherty Macreade Weitering
Plowman Marchbank Williamson
Walsh Cripps Settlefield
JSilvagni McKay CCurnow
McGoven Kerr Petrovski-Seton
DeKoning Kennedy Fisher

I think the way he plays around the contests is so smart that he can play 70-75% game time splitting between midfield and resting forward, and have a real impact.Stocker will be the interesting one as they'll need to tailor a fitness program to take his endurance to the next level, so it might be the 2nd half of the season before we see him in the seniors.
Very content with our period of trade and drafting but I'm concerned about our lack of speed and tenacity.
New rule changes will favour the teams with line breakers and I struggle to see ours in the short term. Bombers have Saad, Fantasia, Shiel, McKenna, Tippa. Who do we have?
We have some great runners now in LOB and Walsh but I'm concerned we are missing express pace. If only Yaz wasn't a basket case... we have missed him a lot.
Any one have an opinion on this?

He knows how to pace himself to finish out matches stronger than most, and has apparently already upped his training regiment since the combine.
Round 1 will line up for Williamson, if it's lucky. You think Williamson lines up round 1?
I think we have got a better list sure... my worry is that we will not have the team to deliver the wins next year. All clubs will feel they have improved their list apart from GC. I am just a little concerned we may not have the players to deliver the win.. yet.To add to the talk on the newly drafted midfielders
We know what we get with Walsh. A classy non stop ball winner and all the perks. No 1 for a reason.
But I am so excited about Stocker. The lad is good and has the composure. A bit of argey bargey too if you don't mind.
Not arrogant but confident, and ethical about football and life, same as Walsh. Two beauties.
I don't know if our list translates to wins yet ETET. Nobody does. I certainly think the team on paper is far better. Still inexperienced yes but the upside is also in the delistings not just the additions to the squad. I see a few goals improvement just in that alone. Then theres the development of the third and fourth year players, return of Docherty and Kreuzer fit and Williamson playing to that potential. I think now is the time when we can and should be optimistic. We may be brought back to earth, however I am still not ready to judge them only on wins and losses. For now its all rosy and blue skies ahead.I think we have got a better list sure... my worry is that we will not have the team to deliver the wins next year. We lost a lot of games last year and we have recruited great kids but they will not have much impact first year vs men. We have bought in some journey men in Fasolo.. etc..and some good talent in McGovern. When we compare our round 23 team vs next years 1st we can say it is much better. It it should be, that team was mauled.
I can’t say next year is not going to be another year of 3 goals losses. I think the kids will get there but I think next year will be very tough again. Others have improved their lists and one could argue with match winners.. Freo, Lions, North..before everyone goes off and says our kids are better, yes but kids especially in the mid field are vulnerable.
Here’s hoping but when I look through the draw I would love to be able to lock the wins in but I think that is another couple of years away for me.
Ps Willo will be in our 5 most valuable players next year.
agree totally 4/5 changes next year trade in a high end quality player with first round/s maybe a free agent and 2 kids in the draft If Simmo has another great season surely he'll go on so maybe Casboult Lobbe Thomas are the no brainers I'd like to see us get into the club a classy medium forward another young ruckman a small defender as well as one or two of Kelly Coniglio MartinThere is nothing left to cut its all about trimming now and bringing in ready made players with first round picks and draft kids with 2nd + 3rd round and allowing them to develop appropriately. I think from this stage we will see about 5 list changes per year.
I may not agree with what you regarding our approach to the Rookie Draft, but this is an absolutely cracking post. Spot on in every element.I like what the Crows did. Clearly no burning desire for a certain player/type so facilitated trades for teams who did - simply accumulating draft capital.
On the same token, I also like that Carlton and GWS got involved in the live trading to target players they really wanted. That alone takes some balls, and given how new live trading is & potentially advantageous if you really like a player, shapes as a high-risk high-reward type move.
Cherry-picked comparisons to NBA are laughably ignorant and pretty much sum up why 90% of BigFooty is utter trash. Trading up and down happens very frequently in the NFL and there are countless examples when it works one way, and countless examples where it works the other way.
It requires a different perspective on how valuable a draftee is - evidently, many just look at the pick number and blindly use that. But what’s more important is how good you think a player is and to be even more specific, how you think he will perform at your club. In the specific example of Stocker, SOS is as privy to all the info and speculation about next year as any. That includes the players likely to be available in next year’s draft - he understands the opportunity cost.
It also includes Bolton’s plans for the team, where he sees deficiencies, areas he wants to focus on, etc. so clearly he sees something he likes.
I assume that after Carlton’s 50 #1 picks no one can seriously say ANOTHER year of the exact same strategy, in 12 months time, is the way to go. In fact, SOS & Bolts have been explicit since 2015 about the planned stages of the rebuild and this is exactly in line with that. Sometimes you have a vision for your side and you need to make moves to execute it. May fail but there’s enough there to get me excited. I’m all for it![]()
did I hear andy walker is no longer in a support role to our indigenous players?Pickett, if he's determined to play footy has Lightning strait line speed. Garlett ain't no slouch either.
