Hell Soap if they will take 12 for Cunnington I would jump on it, I was thinking we might have to give something else.

Would think so too! Remembering we paid around 11 all up for Brackets and Gibbs went for around 7 all up.

Whether one thinks the number of points for each draft pick should be higher or lower than the AFL recommendation, they are good for comparing trades because you have a consistent set of rules, ie Cunnington should be worth more than or similar to Gibbs and pick 12 would be well short.

Currently percentage separates the crows (7th) and St Kilda (11th). If the Crows finished 11th we’d have pick 8. We’d likely still have to add something to it. Even then we are probably dreaming. North need him.

Shai Bolton was taken in the late 20s, i think it was 28, so not a 1st rounder.

Was pick #29 the pick we got for Tyrone Vickery , Dont think he will be looking to leave now he is getting games and his girlfriend is in melbourne. Also looks to be really close with Rioli,Stack,Egg-Smith & Chol. Think he will sign soon

Yep. Don't need to be Guns but that would be better. IMO we have the elite players coming through.
We can get a number of very good players via trades/FA and also through the draft

I'd be going after Ellis & Cuningham with everything I had.
Touk Miller, Papely or Martin would be great
Is North going to rebuild? If so I'd go after Cunington. Perfect for us
Names like Jong Lester or Townsend as examples would be available fairly cheap. Big bodies who will do a job.
Jye Bolton or similar through the draft or rookies
We will also have the money and 2 possible first round picks to entice other clubs

I also believe we will bring in the right mature players over the next 2-3 seasons. Get 4-6 this year and we are in a good spot.

We don't need anymore youth. They just need help

Ellis as a free agent and Townsend will be free also as a delisted free agent if he was to agree to go to the blues
Coniglio as a free agent and Crows 1st rounder for a player like Cunnington would be a sensational result and would really improve the blues instantly.

Coniglio , Cunnington, Ellis - All mature players that all still have 4-7 years

Cunnington would be great, not sure he is in the right age bracket if we are going to spend quality picks though. Maybe just. He's certainly the right type but you would thing a rebuilding team would not want to let a player like that go. In saying that getting good players has a snowball effect when it comes to getting more good players. You get a Cunnington who is 27 years old and that might help attract other good players the following seasons. Especially as that player helps you win more games.

Would firstly be targeting younger more premium inside mids. Fiorini, Taranto guys like that. One thing Collingwood did that's really worked for them is target guys who are young and big ball winners and have strong bodies without being slow.

What we need is a free hit, we need it badly. Either a real early priority pick (which we can hopefully use to trade) or a really good free agent.
According to that Muppet Darcy on Talking Footy we don’t deserve a priority pick cause according to him Brisbane didn’t get any priority pick and look at what they have done.
That pick 19 at the end of the first round they got must have been imaginary, and the compo for Rockliff again pick 19 must have been a mistake cause I’m sure they got Hodge by pulling a swifty with the help of the AFL, which should have meant no compo like we got for Betts, and of course our compo for Waite who apparently was worth nothing. No Brisbane haven’t had any AFL assistance Darcy you ****wit brainless sicophant. If you can’t get your facts straight get off tv dickhead.

out of all the carlton listed players who played in the vfl on the weekend owies excites me the most, i feel like he will do whatever it takes to play in the seniors and keep his spot, his rapid improvement from the pre season open training sessions where people would report he had auskick level kicking, to regularly kicking multiple goals in the vfl, it's obviously not much but that jump in just a few months is massive. really bullish about this guy.

I really like Owies and Cottrell.

Owies could be our best small forward by the start of the 2020 season. He's improving at a rapid rate of knots.

Cottrell is a player. He's tough and runs all day. Relatively quick off the mark too. He'll be one to watch with a full preseason in 2020.
No No.
Duds.
Sakc SOS.............;)

Wasn't Cottrell a Bugg replacement pick, as Gibbons was a Docherty replacement pick or vice versa.

So if Cottrell is another development player, not ready made, it's not great selection given they were picked to replace established injured / retired players.

This is part of the list management problem that we are seeing. We need more that can step in as depth as the talent develops

I wouldn’t be writing off Owies Cottrell Goddard BSOS LeBois Schumacher Lang Garlett or even Finbar yet. I’ve seen some positive signs. If 2-3 of them step up even better.

Who in the list don't you rate? Who would you delist this year? I ask because I had to google who Owies and Cottrell were and I consider myself a very big fan...You obviously watch things.

Says it all really.

He is another that has no idea.

Cunnington is a great player, and very underrated, but is probably too old and going to cost a decent draft pick (unless he’s an FA?).

We’re better served banking that pick or trading in a young player with 50-100 games experience.

If we’re trying to raid North Melbourne maybe we target someone like Trent Dumont?

We've also landed a lot of players and picks. This year will be solely focussed on mature players. All good

Only based on what was available in the market, and we could bring in without exchanging early picks.

No decent senior talent will come if we continue on our current trajectory. We were lucky Shiel gave us a fair hearing based on last year being seen as an aberration, but when you’re anchored to the bottom it is impossible to bring in quality experience.

SOS was absolutely ruthless with the players he inherited. No-one was expecting 15 list changes when he came in, or the dozen or so each year that followed. Moved on talented senior players and high draft picks with potential alike.
But with the guys he's picked himself he's been soft. Why did players like Gorringe, Palmer, Galluci, Glass-McCasker, etc. spend multiple years on the list?
Why are LeBois & Phillips still on the list? Sure they look 'alright'. In the same way Tom Fields looked 'alright'. We need to start getting more use especially out of the rookie list

Our forwardline isnt the problem, especially with Cunners complementing the talls. Getting enough supply to them is a problem however.
And getting it in quickly/efficiently before the oppo defenders have time to clog the space

Cripps is the gun
Cunnington would make a massive difference to our contested ball
Dow Cuningham Fisher Setterfield will improve a lot
Walsh & Stocker are 2 that will improve quickly
Deluca is mature and knows the AFL
Kennedy O’Brien SPS as well

Add a Jong and even a Townsend as well then we can compete harder for longer. That is the difference

Dows kicking has not improved since the under 18's. The exact type of player we need but has a massive negative in his game.
Cunningham has improved massively this year and hopefully takes another step but in reality only a B Grader.
Fisher I've always thought looks like a B Grader at best.
Setterfield looks shot to bits no speed,no strength and average skills. Yes he is coming of a knee but he's coming from a long way back.
Walsh is going to be a superstar.
Stocker looks solid but get the feeling that trade will end up like the Josh Kelly one.
Kennedy to me just wont make it pure plodder who can not keep up defensively plus poor skills. When Luke Gunstan outruns you know you are in trouble.
O'Brien's lack off a strong contest makes you wonder if he will make more then an average AFL player.
SPS thought he had taken the next step this year despite the criticism.

Adding more average players wont help this group we need A Graders. Hopefully some of these do take the next step to A Grade.

Walsh tick for A Grader and the rest???

It all depends what you class as an A grader. For me there is probably only about 20 true A grade mids. If we end up with two in Walsh and Cripps we are doing pretty well.

I’d like Cunnington to help out Cripps...maybe swap polson or similar.
We have a lot of youth, maybe it’s time to use some of of it positively.

Sounds nice in theory, but we’ve recruited Setterfield and Kennedy to fill this role. They need games, conditioning and extra strength, otherwise what was the point in bringing them in?

Recruiting Cunnington, paying him the biggest contract of his career and sacrificing a decent draft pick in the process would be a shortcut IMO.

With how poorly the rebuild is tracking, and how protracted it has been, we’re best served looking for players in the 20-24 age bracket.

You could be right...but, our youth can’t keep getting belted each week or Cripps for that matter.
Setters & Kennedy have yet to prove they can do this, we NEED a proven mature big body now.
When your down for so long, you have to pay overs.
