OLMA FC CLUB STATEMENT:

With the happenings of this evening I thought I should take the chance to explain my actions. I mean absolutely no offence to the list mrpez put together, it was a solid list that would have more than likely been able to contend for a flag this year. However my thoughts are if I was to sneak a flag this year it would be a slightly hollow victory. I’d rather earn it with my own list on the back of my own merits! I had some good pieces to get some valuable picks, and kickstart a mini rebuild. Even with that amount of talent going out I feel there are definitely still enough pieces within this team to be competitive this year. Olma FC will be a force to be reckoned with again!

I have had a few drafts where I have taken just the one pick, but with Jordie_tackles having a full list and first pick coming in the 60's, will this be the first draft where a coach sits out?

So far, 30 of the first 56 picks (four rounds) belong to only four sides, there is quite alot of squad development happening!

I am assuming that Stephenson was accidentally left out of the forward line?

Lobb, Francis, Rayner, Howe, Worpol, Kent, Bruce and Ceglar will be important, depth is pretty important!

To address the trade, obvious reason was to compete with the top teams. I have always avoided any player over about 22 in previous trades so this move is a quantum change for the Sparrows. I would say 3 players I have taken on have about 3 season left so really I need a flag I that timeframe for this to be a success. In terms of what I gave up....a huge draft hand in what I am confident is the best draft in close to a decade, that was very hard to for me to let go of. I have put a heap of time into research and I will now likely be sitting out....

I wish Orasia Fantazio all the best, his comments are exactly how I felt after I inherited the iron mongers, I had players like pendbury, Ablett and Kennedy, Jack Riewoldt too (welcome back) but the success I may have had would not of felt my doing just that I was a caretaker.

Now 4 years later I feel I can compete and have set our latest coach on this same path.
