Hey Catman, I was a social club member this year and I've decided not to renew the social club membership in 2019. I will still be a member, but can't justify spending nearly $900 on a membership so I will be purchasing a different package. A couple of weeks ago I rang up and cancelled the automatic rollover. It says not to ring in the email the club sent out, but I did this prior to the email being sent and they took me off it. I thought just to be sure I'll fill in the form attached to the email, so I did that too.

Yesterday I received a text saying my credit card had expired (which the one they have on record has) and that I needed to contact the club to update my payment details for the automatic rollover. I rang them to say I'd cancelled the automatic rollover via phone and the form and they said I was still signed up to the rollover. They said that they had now cancelled it and I won't be charged for that membership. I was then informed that I can log onto my Geelong Cats account on the website and then purchase whatever membership I like that way.

I just logged on now and it still has the social club membership invoice there as an outstanding balance. They do make things hard it seems. At least I can't be charged as they have an old, expired credit card on their database. I have absolutely no doubt that despite the two phone calls and the form I filled out in between the calls, that they would probably still do the rollover and charge me. It's quite frustrating and certainly far from straight forward as it should be in this day and age.

You are a walking wallet to them. No more, no less.

Did you go to the Melb game this year?
I didn't, but it's the loudest I've heard it on TV when Tommy started dominating.
Atmosphere in the final quarter was incredible. Absolutely incredible.
I was in India for work (never again?)while that game was on- heard it live on K Rock, and you could hear and feel the atmosphere. Their call was worth collecting and keeping.

Lot of bitching going on around here.
I just pay my membership fee once a year, every year, after one easy five-minute phone call.
It's a football club. As a supporter, I support. I don't have to, but I want to.
I certainly don't expect them to give me stuff for nothing.

And I will ensure i do this- and not go anywhere near doing it online

A couple of times I went to do it online, and I couldn't remember my password.
Who can remember a password you use once a year?
It's called "save password" - my saviour for situations like the above where I only use a password once or twice a year

That gives me a headache just reading that.

You're crazy to quit the social club tho!! I sat there a year or so back as a guest, was ******* mad. (but yeah almost 1k is alot)

Yeah I thought long and hard about quitting the social club, it's a great membership but it's just a bit expensive now and I can't make it to as many games as I'd like due to working many weekends.

Are you 100% guaranteed Grand Final with social?

Same always call; organise different family members seats, just memberships, changes to seats-more less etc and its easy over the phone. Tried once online, fail for me. Too difficult.

Lulz....just saw my bank statement and I got debited $280 AFTER I opted out the way the email told me to.

Screw this, calling tomorrow and just paying for what games I attend next season.

I downgraded seats the moment it was all released.
Got 2 emails on Monday telling me I needed to reserve my seat or miss out.
Called them up and couldn't get through, happened to have 10 mins spare yesterday when I was right around the corner so ducked in.. They had moved my seat and my sons but also kept my son linked to his from this year trying to charge him twice.. And then actually asked if i wanted to keep it when I went in to sort it out..

Fixed now I am hoping but they also couldn't tell me why I got the emails when I had already done it.

Fun times

That is hilarious for all the wrong reasons, especially the bolded.

So much incompetence, and only so much can be blamed on the ticketing company.
