MRP / Trib. 2019 MRP Chook Lotto - Carlton Tribunal News & Reports

Me/us.

Only had a couple of weeks off from MRO attention this season and one of those was the bye.

Can’t remember consecutive weeks without Christian finding a way to penalise the club.

How much did they fine Daisy this week?

:p

Daisy actually saves money when he doesn't play. He thinks Sam Docherty is milking it.

Why? It's not like players from other clubs don't get pinged for it too, we're hardly being victimised here.
Problem is there are players from other clubs who make contact and are not cited.

It is at the discretion of Christian whether it is deemed accidental or careless and therefore subject to sanctions or not.

His track record does not inspire confidence in his decision making abilities.

And there are players from other clubs who make contact and do get cited. And I bet there are players from our club who have made contact who haven't been cited - but we never hear about that therefore in peoples' minds it never happens.

It's a minor fine, not sure why people are getting upset by it.

Upset because now Ed has multiple fines for umpire contact so his next one will likely be an automatic suspension.

Once again, it matters that Christian has discretion for the decision whether to deem contact was accidental or intentional.

The same discretion was used to allow GAblett to get away with deliberately elbowing opponents in the head, while lesser known players are suspended because of an accidental head clash in a tackle.

Pretty sure they did away with the multiple strikes stuff.

Also reckon the AFL learnt their lesson last year in regards to heavily penalising incidental umpire contact. They got baked in the media over that debacle, and seem to have dialed back their enthusiasm for "protecting" umpires from innocuous incidents.

I agree that Christian is wildly inconsistent, and there's still some pretty clear bias towards big names that shouldn't exist. That doesn't mean I think Ed is being hard done by here - if anything, being pinged multiple times is perhaps an indication that he's not mindful enough of the umpires.

Not an issue about not touching the umps. my issue is of all the things referred, there were more serious tagging indiscretions that went unpunished/un referred

Nope, its clearly a systematic attempt to penalise Carlton. ;)
At stages this board can give the Cult of Hird a fair run for their money with regard to having a more significant persecution complex.
