Why didn't Sicily get a free kick when Selwood legged him as he tried to get up?

Once upon a time tripping was a reportable offense.

Selwood is a joke. If he doesn't have something on someone in the umpiring fraternity i'll eat my hat. If he'd let Sicily up in the first place it wouldn't have happened and he is holding Sicily's leg right until he drops his knee on him. Isn't there some way they can both be suspended or something.

Campaigner.

Every time i have heard Christian defend a non suspension, he without fail says "they were able to take their kick/play out the game" any chance Frosts sling tackle on Jed, which was severe enough for (possible mild concussion) him not being able to take his kick will even get mentioned, much less penalised ?

Zaine Cordy should be accepting a bonus plus add ons. Not a bloody suspension.

AFL match review officer Michael Christian to apologise to umpire for criticism at local footy match

MATCH review officer Michael Christian says he will issue an apology for approaching a women’s football umpire during a match on Sunday.

And the Collingwood premiership player is now facing calls to resign after over-stepping the mark.

Umpire Adrian Fisher revealed this morning Christian, who was watching his daughter playing in a match between Old Brighton and Old Scotch, criticised him for missing sling tackles.

“I tried to call Adrian to apologise,” Christian told 3AW.

“I spoke to the AFL today, to (football operations boss) Steve Hocking, to confirm this had occurred.

“Steve clearly outlined the AFL’s position to me, that this should not have happened by any person, particularly not someone in a senior official role in the game.”

Fisher said the incident occurred at half time of the local footy match.

“First of all he said he was independent, which gets up my goat because his daughter was playing, he wasn’t independent,” Fisher told 3AW.

“He said I’m independent, you’re missing sling tackles.

“I said ‘well that’s your opinion’.

“He said ‘you’re missing sling tackles and paying them as holding’.

“I said ‘that’s your opinion.’ Then he walked off and said ‘I’m right’.

“We didn’t get heated or anything, we just exchanged opposite views.

“It was a bit like an ugly parent.

“I don’t think it was appropriate what he did.”

On Tuesday, Tom Elliott - son of former Carlton president, John - called for Christian to step down or be sacked by the AFL.

“Michael Christian has to go today,” he told 3AW.

“If he won’t resign, Gillon McLachlan has to sack him.”

Christian should go purely based on this weeks findings.

Both Rance and Sandilands should have got weeks and we’re only fined..... WTF!

One was a hit to the head off the ball and the other was so late it was laughable.
You wouldn't want to see ornaments of the game being rubbed out now would you? Really???

I’m not a fan of rubbing blokes out, but those two actions on the weekend should have been suspended.

The Rance one was the worst as he clearly knew Bruest had taken the mark and gave him one anyway. Rance hasn’t even left the ground when Breust completes the mark.

The Sandilands one was less malicious and a bump gone wrong, but these turkeys have been telling us for years now that if you choose to bump.

How unlucky must Richard Douglas feel. He got suspended for less than both those incidents as he was clearly competing for the ball.

Maybe they just need to come out and tell us incidents get graded purely on outcome and actions are irrelevant?

lmao. Dude pleaded guilty after his lawyer Adrian Anderson (yes that one) talked with the prosecution. Prosecution comes out and says 2-4 weeks (which was discussed) AA says minimum could/should be a fine, draws parallel to spitting and interfering with an injured player, points to last case being 2 weeks with a NOT GUILTY plee. Even tried to add wiggle room suggesting 1 week AND a fine. Chairmen shut him down completely and tells the jury it has to be between 2 and 4 weeks.

As an aside, there was a big deal about the skin not being broken, infection etc. And while I get the point, I'm amazed that no one is pointing out the bleeding obvious. Spitting is human behaviour. Biting is canine behaviour. It was a ******* dog act regardless of whether he broke the skin and gave him rabies or not.

I thought Casboult would be lighter in the hip pocket after his stray elbow cheap shot to EVW's head. Michael Christian may have felt his performance live on FTA tv was embarrassing enough.

I heard carltank are appealing
