in retrospect, looks incidental.....clowney moving his right arm in and under to try to knock the ball out, and so his body in an awkward position he had nowhere else to go

Tbh, first time I've seen it...

Just no. It was completely unnecessary contact. If Clowney wasn't there, Wentz would've been ruled down by contact, play over.

Was there a penalty called? Disgraceful if not, and even if there was, the punishment did not fit the crime...

So other players can't do Cam's Superman celebration, the ARod's championship belt, Lamar's goofy dance, etc?
Kirk does it behind closed doors not in front of an opponent.

Anyway whatever.

Yeah not much in it. As the ref said after the game Wentz was a runner and didn’t give himself up - he should expect contact. Only has himself to blame.

im with you. you see it every time, when a qb scrambles and isnt sliding, but running and trying to break tackles, like josh allen, lamar, etc etc, defenders do get lit up looking to lay a huge hit on them because theyre so protected otherwise

Not much in it????? He led with helmet, hitting the other player in the head with it and caused him to leave the game with a suspected concussion. Since when has being a runner and not giving yourself up had anything to do with helmet to helmet contact not being called? It's been the interpretation all season.

All correct but still doesn't allow a free pass for helmet to helmet contact.

i think he just tried to hit him hard with his shoulder into his back and the helmet contact was incidental. but the intent was there with the shoulder into the back and drive it down

and if there is contact above the shoulders to the ball carrier it has been flagged all year.

not if its incidental. eg the flag that was thrown in the same game at the end that the refs discussed and picked up the flag said no penalty. where the rb lowered at the end and it caused helmets to crash with the DB whod braced for a hit

This is the absolute worst of you.

Your bizarre need to be a contrarian leads to you making long winding series of claims that you could not possibly believe. This is stupid, and you should stop it.

At least GG's consistent on this subject i suppose, he fully endorses headshots with helmets, be it on or off..

TGBB is he one who's changed his tune quickly. Wanted Garrett in jail, nothing wrong with what Clowney did. 😜

Not sure what isn't true...helmet to helmet is illegal as is any contact by the defender to the neck and head using any part of the arm.
That contact above the shoulders of a ball carrier has been flagged all year - its barely been flagged at all after what they were saying they would flag last off-season

Now, if you were talking about a QB in the pocket, you'd be absolutely correct. Unfortunately for Wentz and the Eagles, he wasn't in the pocket and wasn't giving himself up, so lost all the protections normally afforded to a QB

Apologies, should have been more specific, was referring specifically to how they officiate hits to QBs and helmet to helmet contact on any player. For the official to now come out and call it incidental does not fly with the application of the rule all season.

Wentz was also down by contact before the hit, Clowney's crown of his helmet is about 6 inches off the ground and he leads with it so its lowering and can be argued targeting (which could be an instant ejection).

The last few weeks they had been getting lax on flagging the hits for QBs in protected areas/situations. Eg. In
Pocket, after hand off and/or after sliding.
