Only lasted a year as a rookie before being cut. I thought he showed a bit in the SANFL but maybe we just didn't see him as an AFL player.

We were too "demanding" so he went to Carlton......

Well that's not quite true. He played VFL for a couple of seasons after we delisted him before Carlton picked him up as a mature-age rookie.

A number 1 draft pick has a lot more upside than finishing a few spots up the ladder in a year we're clearly nowhere near premiership quality. Unless we somehow finish top 4 it's pretty much irrelevant if we finish 5th or 17th.
