Reminds me of TinTins letter to KT.

Surely even the biggest Koolaid drinkers can see it the State jumper with Ports colours, just own it don't come up with some bullshit story.

I've always seen it as a ripoff of the Big V jumper. Don't actually mind it, because if we're the team for all South Australians, Port is then the team for all South Australians to hate.

I'm sure Disney will put the Pixar brand on other things they sponsor. They're a MASSIVE company, obviously - it is weird that they thik they somehow need to raise the profile of the Marvel brand in Australia. I don;t see how it could be any bigger, realistically.

Fun fact: Steve Jobs made more money from running Pixar than he did from running Apple

I do actually believe the backstory, as they had actually ran the competition twice prior.

Unfortunately, they don't have archives of the V design being announced.

I just don't like that they aren't willing to acknowledge the resemblance to the State Guernsey.

Aaaagh jeez! My eyes!

How original that last one. I've never seen colours in the shape of a V on any other Guernsey before.

I just like that all of the above happened, yet they can completely believe that they are the epitome of a true, traditional football club and that everyone else is a plastic pretender.

Real big "we have always been at war with East Asia" vibe from the "born in a court room" lot.
If you look through the history of our guernsey (other than indigenous & the away tops) we've always maintained the hoops in some capacity.

129 goals 101. So, much better.

I remember Anthony Ingerson as a forward. Could not even make the distance from 40 metres but became a top class defender at Melbourne after being traded.
Wow that's pretty good considering how much he was bagged for his kicking.

It's quite ironic that we're told that we apparently don't have any history nor do we respect tradition yet we've kept the same guernsey design for nearly 30 years.

It’s ironic that we have ticked just about every box in that time, flags, Brownlow, Coleman, 100 goals, AA captain/selections. What have they done?

That's kind of my point, despite there being different rules in different jurisdictions, they all utilise the timeout mechanism. Hence, the origin of the sport is immaterial to the debate.

I think I just caught a few people mid wank, and they got a bit confused with what they were doing :)

FWIW I think your point was clear and correct

Some people tried to imply that only whacko American sports did that, and because they were whacko Americans nothing they did could be taken to be representative.

The fact that these sports were played around the world negates the argument that only la la Americans did that

Most of the counter argument seems to have been wordplay

We offered him that because that's what they thought the role was worth. A backup midfielder we didn't see in the best 22. He wanted to stay, but wanted more money like what the Suns offered, but that wasn't ever going to happen.

Yeah except your argument was that we were smart to save his 400k salary

And he played 20 games for us that year, it’s cloud cuckoo land stuff to say he wasn’t first 22

If they saw him as not being in the best 22 every week they were. You don't pay that much money for a guy you don't plan on playing.

I like Lyons, I'd of kept him, but paying him that kind of money for the role they had planned for him wasn't smart use of the cap. If it's down to Lyons or Greenwood, then I'd go Greenwood.

If you want to copy the state guernsey with port colours you just look into the competition entries, there would be dozens of entries that went with the same design, you then choose the person who has the best story.
