Who will be discounted? Whats the critera for a discount? And how are prices calculated?

Williams, Docherty, Greene, Scully, Brad Crouch, Setterfield (100% lock if he gets traded to someone like Carlton), Liberatore, Hanley, Hartlett, Viney, Tom Lynch at Richmond

Out of these I like Williams, Docherty, Greene, Setterfield and Lynch. Never picking that burnman crouch again. 300k Tom Lynch will be my first selection

Holding vs sidewaysing premiums:

Moved Zerrett on to Dusty in Rd 2 as premo corrective (head knock rd 1).

Moved Dusty on rd 12 to Miller GCS (form, bye boost).

Gained 77 pts only on Dusty vs Zerrett rd 2-11.
Had I held Zerrett full year, he averaged 104 rd 2 onwards, Dusty 104 (Dusty 10pts less on aggregate).

Miller over Dusty netted only 17 pts, and that's including the bye week advantage. (Miller more role fluctuation, got given tagging jobs sometimes, can score).

Plenty of examples where it is terminal, I guess, but ultimately 2 trades pissed up against the wall by getting spooked / reading tea leaves.

That would have allowed getting Riewoldt in dirt cheap or moving McLean on after Dunkley took over the mid role.

If anything im gonna sideways earlier next.

Petracca Hibberd Billings were in my team for way too long
Had Billings, too. Was a combination of team misfire, role and individual form.
Planned to keep as F7 worst case, then he got axed that one week and with the bye figured it was time. Haven't looked at his stats, but was ok from there and probably an ok cheap pick up for some. Not Riewoldt league, but ok.
Plenty made the early call and got it spot on, it got a lot worse before it got better. Got caught in no man's land personally.
Didn't follow the others, Hibberd was a premo going in but seems he never looked like it this year, Petracca a possible breakout who didn't quite fire(?)

On Danger, apparently it's full premiership season incl. finals. Would be legitimate if they always do it like that.
It he gets it, he gets it, if he doesn't, he doesn't.

I think sidewaysing true premos and mid pricers is a different proposition

My Zerrett > Danger in round 9 also cost me about 120k cash

From that point
Merrett averaged 111.4 (1560 points)
Danger averaged 124.8 (1748 points)

Until Danger went ham in the final round it had netted me 100 points over the previous 13 rounds before finally ended up 185 points positive.
So in the end not a bad trade but any less and probably not worth it.

Mid pricers on the other hand come with their own inherent risks and if they aren't playing the correct role or underperforming in general then I agree should come with a shorter opportunity before they are booted.
Luckily I got rid of Billings and Petracca quickly this year
.
Not sure net year I'll be so quick to move on from premos if they are underperforming a bit.
Lachie Neale a good example of sticking with an early underperforming premo paying dividends.

Not going Nank to Grundy was also a big mistake

Yeah My sideways Goldstein - Grundy trade in round 4 netted me at least 500 points.and probably more like 700 once I factor in all those VC scores.

Yeah Nank a mid pricer in my book.
I sidewaysed Stef > Grundy a bit later in the year, I think after round 14.
Whilst Stef was real good this year, Grundy was just a superstar.

Me storming into the HS offices about rnd 10 next year.............just replace the Burgers with Trades.

Dusty gone from gun to not even best 22 in a year

Why would you leave so much $$$ in the kitty round 1? Seems a waste to me :moustache:

Had Wingard at the back end of this season and he was great.

If Polec is out the door does that mean that Wingard will be even more likely to be playing in the guts and not parked forward for weeks at a time like he was early this year?

Hoping he keeps his DPP.

Here's something to ponder. There were 42 players that topped an average of 100 this year. Here's the list. I've excluded Sam Reid as he only played one game for 104. Using the same price calculation as this year, this should be somewhere close to starting prices next year for all of these players. I would expect it to be within a few hundred bucks anyway. If you were to pick all of the top 10 from this year it would set you back a cool $6.65m.

Think your figures are a bit low. They seem to go up by the CPI rate each season.
2016 season multiplier was 5326. Yearly CPI was 1.3% which made the 2017 season multiplier 5395.
2017 yearly CPI was 1.9% which made the 2018 season multiplier 5498.
CPI currently is 2.1% but this could change when the September quarter rate is released. So as of now if the past holds true the multiplier is up to 5613.
Which means each season with the 10 million bank not changing, you end up getting less player talent for your money.

My understanding is he can't / won't get himself fit enough to play midfield, except in spurts .....much the same as Walters

Last PS IIRC ....Wingard had 3-4 hamstring strains over PS ...thus restricting his fitness base .....best watch how his PS goes this PS

If RICH win another flag ....i won't be starting Dusty .....he cruised for a large part of the year, but to his credit, has stepped up towards the business end of the season

This was the luxury trade, i regretted not doing......injury to Sicily & then Gaff, scuttled that plan

Interesting that the only 3 forwards to average 100+ this year are KP types - Hawkins, Westhoff & Buddy. Goes against one of the basic principles of SC = don't pick KP forwards.

Buddy's always been a bit of an exception to that rule, and Westhoff is more of a utility.
Hawkins tho, who would of expected him to have his career best SC year at 30yo? Crazy.

Just shows how shit the fwds have been, McLean started on fire, then died in the arse and had his mid time snaked by Dunkley.
Heeney was pumping out points at the start then slowed down at the business end.
Gray got shifted back the pocket and his scoring fell off a cliff.

iirc, forwards have been the worst line for a few years in a row now.

Yeah my figures are based simply on the multiplier at the start of this year. Going to be even more difficult next year if it increases without any increase to the salary cap, given the number of high averaging players there were this year.

And remarkably 4 defenders averaged 105+. Can't remember that happening for quite a few years, if ever.
